LA-U-TE2 Narrow Gauge Locomotive

EDIT: I added slow braking and a speed limiter system. I can now safely say this is the most advanced narrow gauge diesel locomotive on the workshop.


LA U-TE2, a narrow gauge (SNGA500) loco designed for industrial or remote narrow gauge lines and children's railways, and meant to replace the ageing U-TE1. Simplicity, reliability and range are important design points. The class uses the chassis of the TE1, inheriting the ElastiBogeys that allow it to traverse very uneven track, but greatly increasing fuel efficiency, range and power through the use of a modular engine and larger fuel tank.

The U-TE2 is fully compatible with SNGA standards and uses the SNGA multiple unit (master/slave) system. It is also compatible with all train-sensing SNGA equipment, such as level crossings and signals.

The livery is made by my friend Mac (TailspinGrey) and based on the Soviet TU2 narrow gauge diesel-electric locomotives.
