[SR] Gladius-Class Destoryer

The Gladius-Class Destroyer was constructed on the basis of the older Scimitar-Class Destroyer Leader, being among the smallest what are known as “blade ships”. Hence, it bears a strong resemblance to its larger sibling ship, but is easily distinguished thanks to several key changes and upgrades. The most noticeable of which being it’s reduced size, shorter superstructure, and side-mounted hanger bays. It’s armament is weaker than it’s counterpart as a result of its smaller size, but thanks to its varied armament it is considerably more versatile in combat. Such an arsenal includes the standard point-defense and ship-to-ship autocannons armament, three ventral-mounted torpedo launch tubes, and a pair of linear energy cannons mounted towards the bow. The destroyer class features hangers located on both side of the ship, allowing for quick launch times for its small fighter and bomber contingents. Because of these factors, the Gladius is favored in the anti-piracy role, able to easily keep up with pirate vessels and tear into their hulls with its powerful armament.
