Description
Go on a nostalgia mashup, playing Barony with the sounds of Daggerfall!

Barony was in many ways inspired by the Bethesda classic "The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall". From the first-person, VGA aesthetic, high fantasy world, to the level-by-use skill system, Barony and Daggerfall fans share a pretty big spot in their venn diagram. This mod seeks to echo some nostalgia from Daggerfall into Barony by swapping in sound effects and music where it fits in.

In making this mod I attempted to capture some of the most memorable and nostalgic songs and sounds from Daggerfall. So while Daggerfall's dungeons usually featured more ambient tracks, I selected songs that were more memorable for fans of Bethesda's game. These two games share common creatures and mechanics, and I've done my best to select sounds as overt references.

While the video for the mod only shows gameplay from the mines, sounds and music have been uniquely replaced across the entire game. Is something missing or did I miss a key piece of nostalgia? Please let me know in the comments! I hope you enjoy this mod.

Minor update for 4.0.1
  • Lava SFX were way too loud, so I've damped them a bit
  • Levelup sound effects were redone for QoD, so this reassigns the correct file
  • Added menu SFX to replace QoD's new ones

It's definitely a haunting soundtrack! One of the best in the 90s IMHO.

There's a couple tracks. Unfortunately I don't know the names. One is just one of the ambient dungeon tracks, another is night-time outdoors in the wilderness. If you give me a timestamp (from the trailer) maybe I could find out for sure. There were a lot of sounds from Arena packaged with Daggerfall, so there's a chance it's an Arena song also.

It's so amazing. I just can't handle the flute-sound. Traumatic. In the 90's, through the speakers at the time, I always thought something was lurking behind me.

wow the daggerfall sounds pair so damn well with this game, more even than the default sounds! combat music can get a bit repetitive but that's daggerfall's fault

@Krondelo nope, it's a cosmetic-only audio mod. So shouldn't disable achievements at all.
