Toyota GR86 Mk2

The GR 86 is a sports car with an FR layout jointly developed by Toyota Motor Corporation with SUBARU (formerly Fuji Heavy Industries).
This is Toyota's first horizontally-opposed engine sports car since the Sports 800 (Yotahachi).
Subaru BRZ, a brother car, is on sale from SUBARU.

It was announced as the third global model of "TOYOTA GAZOO RACING" following GR Supra and GR Yaris, and the car name was changed to "GR 86".
The biggest topic is that the engine displacement has been expanded to 2.4L, which has improved the "torque valley" in the middle rev range, which was a problem of the previous generation.

The platform carries over the previous one, but it is said that the torsional rigidity has been improved by 50% by incorporating the knowledge of SGP (Subaru Global Platform).

The inspiration for the AE86 is just a concept, and it cannot be said to be a successor even considering the vehicle class and the origin that the AE86 is a derivative of the Corolla.
The vehicle class is close to Celica, which is about one size larger than the AE86, and the horizontally opposed sports car with a low center of gravity is close to the Sports 800.
