11,000 props / 50,000
2 highway connections
4 ship connections

a central flat land
charming hills with many castles, villages, hamlets and isolated farms
a magnificent landscape of forests, lavender fields and olive groves.

IMPORTANT - a one click COLLECTION IS ABOVE THIS TEXT - DONT MISS IT
This map demands a collection of custom mods & assets, and to get it to look similar to the screenshots. In general you only need the assets & mods listed to the right. This is the basic detail level of the map. If you want the full detail experience then subscribe to all the assets in the collection.

This map doesn't have giant mushrooms, invisible roads, Stargate, dragons, dinosaurs, pink octopuses ... I know .... I know .... you are extremely disappointed .... nevertheless you will find, here and there, pigs roaming freely along the country roads ... a little nod to Corsica ...

Tips and advice
1 / The buildable area is 43%. However, you can decide to build a dike at the entrance of the large central bay. Deprived of access to the sea, this area will slowly dry up and form a “polder” (artificial expanse of land reclaimed from the water). The building surface thus increases to 52%. Of course, you can also create new artificial islands.

2 / You can build a Vanilla city. On the Workshop, however, you will find many buildings of different Mediterranean styles. Here are the keywords for your searches : Mediterranean, Nissa, Genova, Lucus, Lugo, Rome, Florence, Trullo, Greek, Malta, Lebanon.

3 / From the start you have water and sewerage. For your first thousand inhabitants, you don't have to spend money on building pumps. The pipes are at your expense.

4/ Windmills produce electricity. They are much prettier and more discreet than wind turbines. Windmills scattered throughout the countryside produce 70 MW of electricity; to use it immediately, subscribe to the "Electric Roads Mod 2.1".
Farm animal custom props are considered as electric pylons !!! With Find-it and Move-it, you can electrify your city with mills, cows, sheep and pigs !!!

5/ The island is connected to the mainland by a highway and 2 railway lines.
A modest asphalt national road crosses the island. There are many dirt roads connected to it. This national road joins the edge of the map but doesn’t benefit from entry and exit points. As a result, it isn’t crowded with trucks and delivery vans. However, this route is placed very close to the rail entry points. So some tourists will decide to take their car to visit your city !!!

The south of France

I didn’t attempt to recreate an existing landscape. “Cigales” is a fantasy map. Nevertheless, it’s a charming postcard landscape that brings together all the main clichés of the geography of South-East France. The landscape is Mediterranean with many bays and coves, The ground is rocky with forests. The villages are perched on hills and surrounded by olive groves and lavender fields.

About the French Riviera….
The French Riviera or “Côte d´Azur” is 115 km (71 miles) of coastline and beaches bordering the Mediterranean Sea with more than 310 days of sunshine per year. Summers are hot and dry, winters are mild. There are 50 tourist towns such as Menton, Nice, Cannes, Fréjus, Toulon and Cassis. Let us also mention the small Principality of Monaco. Also known as Monte Carlo, this microstate has an area of 2.1 km² (0.81 sq mi) which is the size of a single tile in the Cities Skylines game !!! These municipalities are the first modern seaside resorts. Indeed, as early as the 18th century, they attracted the wealthy and idle Britons from the upper classes. Today 184,000 foreign residents of 163 different nationalities have taken up residence on the Riviera.
Before the pandemic, this area populated by 1.4 million French people attracted 14 million tourists each year, mainly from northern Europe. It offered work to 75,000 people in more than 3,000 restaurants but also in many hotels, casinos, golf courses and marinas.

And about “Provence”.
The French Riviera is an integral part of the Provence region (or PACA = Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur).
Sometimes referred as the “French Tuscany”, Provence is an agricultural region with impressive wild landscapes in the most mountainous areas. There is a shrubland biome made up of drought-resistant shrubs (“maquis” and “garrigue” in French). These inextricable thorny thickets are very vulnerable to fires.

In the past, Provence and more broadly, the entire Mediterranean rim was an insecure region. Also, the rural habitat consisted of fortified villages perched on rocky outcrops. The most famous villages are Gordes, Simiane-la-Rotonde and Les Baux-de-Provence. The same type of rural habitat is also seen in Corsica and Sicily.

However, there were also isolated farms called “mas” and “bastide”. These former agricultural estates are now popular second homes for wealthy industrialists, oil emirs and Hollywood stars. Some real estate transactions can be counted in tens or even in hundreds of millions of euros.

Provence is the leading French region for the production of fruits, vegetables and flowers; olives and lavender are its most emblematic productions. In the mountains, sheep farming predominates.

The land is very stony. To make farmland easier to cultivate, there is no other choice to remove the stones. For centuries, these stones have been used to build enclosures to mark the boundaries of plots. The peasants also built round and conical huts using the dry stone technique without mortar. Here, these buildings are referred to as “bories”. The same type of building can be seen elsewhere, for example, in southern Italy with the “trullo”.
Provence is however also a rich cereal region subject to the windy episodes of the cold Mistral. From the Middle Ages, many windmills were built. Some have been restored and still work, others are in ruins. One of the most famous is the “Moulin de Daudet” in Fontvieille.

Provence is also the song of the cicadas (“cigales” in French). With the strong heat of June, the larvae of these insects come out of the ground and the males "sing” to attract females. In 2016, a Parisian couple, on vacation in Carry-le-Rouet, on the French Riviera, wanted to file a complaint because of this noise !!! In 2018, others asked the mayor of Le Beausset to eradicate them all from the municipal territory by spraying all the trees with insecticide ...

I love this one - I didn't know the theme or inspiration behind the map before I downloaded (didn't read the description very well) but thought - WOW reminds me of Corsica and some lovely holidays - exactly what the maker has said when I reread. My plan is to build out some smaller towns and connect in a bigger place, and turn the little towns already in the map into parks to keep them as they look very lovely indeed. Thank you very much indeed for such a lovely map:)

Thank you for this comment. I added the indian grass to the collection. I did not put these other trees in the collection because there are only 2 or 3 on the map. At the very beginning, I tried different tree mixes for forests. All the trees on your list, I stopped using them at the end of the first day of creation ... In short, we can do without ...
But...all these trees, I put it in a secondary collection.
