Chimera

Description
An experimental attack-class submarine, the Chimera offers the ability to reposition two coilguns at the top or bottom independently of each other, and supports two single-shot railguns. It's significant firepower comes at the cost of general unreliability, questionable construction decisions, a power-hungry engine and cramped interior for it's size.

UPDATE:
the AI can man the guns now. you need to make it follow you inside then order it to man the gun
you have to assign them to the gun position the elevator is docked at the moment (ex: if they're assigned to the bottom left but the gun is docked top left, they'll be in the periscope, but can't shoot)
getting them out of the gun is pretty hard tho. put two security officers in the guns or somethin

FEATURES:
+ two mobile gunpods that dock at the top and bottom of the submarine, offering superior firepower wherever you want
+ able to move positions while in pod and remotely from the command room
- people can be crushed in the docking ports
- if monsters get in the gunpod carriage when it's undocked it can't move
- no oxygen in the gunpod if undocked
- undocking causes a tiny splash of water
- swapping unreliable when sub is moving

+ two sonar/status monitors in the middle and bottom of the sub for crew to see whats going on
- they have individual sonars so be careful with keeping them all on

+ glass to see flooding and status of other rooms
- rather fragile

+ compact size making it easy to squeeze in caverns
- inside is cramped

+ powerful engine and large ballasts offering very good mobility
+ experimental engine is immune to damage and flooding
- powerful engine fries all the junction boxes if you stop too fast
- only way to drain water is to open the doors down to the ballasts/bottom rooms which have the pumps

+ two railguns on the top and bottom of the ship, and a sonar locker nearby to beacons out of railgun shells
- single shot, with the nearest ammo holder being inconveniently placed

+ four powerful discharge coils, two external to stun in front and back, two internal to stun above and below
- external discharges fry anyone inside the gunpods, internal discharges fry anyone inside the sub

+ depth charge linked to the nav console for easy use
- there is only one

-/+ clown
- airlock floods the right gunpod if its docked near there

Absolutely amazing concept, however in action it's not quite as planned...

8/10, would troll with again :ujel:

Floods like hell though! Gotta manually lock them doors and pull the wires off um!

Still one of the coolest compact ship designs. Even works on separatist s ub now

even in the vanilla game shit like the kastrull and the typhon only have one coilgun pointing in one direction

two pointing in the same direction is really damn strong compared to vanilla subs so i thought of how to balance it

and thus this monstrosity was born

i think the firepower is made up by how clunky everything else is lmao

that's an interesting design, I wouldn't have thought of make elevator turrets lol

I personally avoid putting anything in the ballasts aside from pumps and perhaps the odd loose panel. Even putting railgun ammunition racks is pushing it too far for me

cant really do much about the cramped thing though i think that gives it its own feel

i debated moving the medbay into the ballast for kicks but i thought the medic shouldn't have to drown for existing

Looks pretty on the outside, although the interior looks a bit cramped with objects overlapping
