My Custom and Lore Adaptation Reskin of Malekith


Detailed List of Changes:
*Reworked eyes - they are still green in colour and tint, but I redid them completely

*Reworked helmet / encased face mask - Added sort of a "molten" effect to the encased golden faceplate - in the lore the amour was smelted over his skin because there wasn't much left after he was nearly burned to a crisp from the fires of Asuryan. Was going for that "molten" or "smelted" type of look with the encased golden faceplate of his helmet.

*Changed body armour completely - darkened default armour and changed the tone of the gold inlays/accents to more of a golden, less yellow hue as in vanilla texture. Wanted to keep the trend with the colour scheme the same as the rest of the armour.

*Changed cloth bits to a deep, rich purple / almost like a roman praetorian kind of vibe but rooted in druchii warhammer lore, modeling after some of his tabletop model iterations / lore artwork prior to 8th edition when they replaced it with the red. To me, it just looks better with the purple based on the racial aesthetic of the druchii.

*Added a "glowing" effect to the serpents' jeweled eyes on his armour.

*Custom Destroyer sword re-texture - reskinned Malekith's iconic sword to be more of a representation of how it is in the lore / artwork.

*Custom shield re-work/re-texture - colour matching and re-textured the shield to match the gold tone of his armour and made some distinct parts of the shield black to match his armour. Also matched the purple and red hues on the face of the shield to match the other tones / tints of the armour.

*Added a "glowing" effect via re-texture to the rune of Khaine etched within the armoured face of the shield. I hope to actually make this glow in the future but I did my best with the texture file using a series of overlays. See below on "future possible changes" section for future plans to improve / update the reskin.




Future Possible Changes:
*Once I can learn how to make things glow, IE .wsmodel editing, I plan on exchanging the custom Khaine "glowing" texture on the shield to an actual glow. If anyone wants to help me out or take this on for me - I welcome the help. I've watched several tutorials and read some of the existing tutorials on this subject but I cannot grasp how to do this yet. In the meantime, I did my best to give it the illusion that it is glowing from the texture file using several overlays. I think it looks decent but I'd much rather have it actually glow. The same with the ruby, jeweled eyelets of the serpents on his armour; I did my best but would be great if I could make them glow as well.

Designed this to go along with my custom Black Guard of Naggarond for uniformity of appearance between Malekith and his Black Guard and complete visual and this is a smaller part of a larger project to complete an aesthetic rework of the Dark Elves that is and has been a WIP for me at this point. You can see some screenshots of my progress on the Black Guard, specifically, in some of the shots above with Malekith.


*Compatibility: Compatible with anything that does not reskin Malekith or edit his texture files; this is purely a cosmetic/graphical change - nothing more. It should never need updating but I will do my best to keep it up to date at least to give the illusion that it is updated.

Also, thanks to all of the members of the modding discord over the years that have helped me continuously improve and increase the quality of my work. The Warhammer II modding community is fantastic and I am constantly amazed by how many limits have been are consistently being pushed and barriers broken/shattered to get the most mileage out of this wonderful game and series.

Here's me coming back, at the end of May, 2025, still hoping and praying that this is one day ported to TW:W3. I play Malekith with other reskins but it just doesn't hit the same.

So I'm still alive. Same old same old. Not much changing but the weather. (Nasty storms rolling in tomorrow, tornado business, here's hoping it misses me. If it does, I'll be back sometime around October or November to ask for this again.)

Hope you guys are doing well, hope everyone's happy and healthy, and hope my dude Darkstrand might be inspired to port this over to TW:W3 one of these days, so I can really get into a proper Malekith run.

Coming back, five months later, to pray this is ported to Total War: Warhammer 3! Been... Two full years now, but I'm gonna keep on hoping. If I knew anything about modding, I'd do it myself, but I don't, so all I can do is be useless and lame and hope that it's moved over one day, so I can play a Malekith campaign in style.

I'll see you guys again around March!

God, please port this to TW:W3. The thought of playing a Malekith campaign without this incredible mod makes me want to start up another Kroq-Gar campaign.

Strange. The problem (and a couple others) was solved by verifying integrity of game files.

My head issue isn't missing textures but skin. When Malekith takes damage in battle and the game applies the blood textures, the armor around his neck turns into skin. So what you have is the metal head sitting on top of a decapitated neck, and then an armored body. Is this intended or should I start looking through my load order?
