-GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG-

The tale of operation "Götterdämmerung".
The name is german and it's approximate meaning in English is "god's twilight", it was a joint operation between the German BND and the American CIA.
Much of the ground work was laid by the BND after a series of terrorattacks in Germany, American armed forces acted upon the intelligence in the middle east whilst the BND handled the operation domestically.
It's often looked upon as a massive intelligence failure since the only functional democracy in the middle east almost fell back into tribal rule under the hand of a previously unknown terrorist organisation.
Turmoil within the US caused by the presidential election resulted in a delayed reaction and the new administrations entire stance within the region was highly uncertain.
Despite all of this a small number of American soldiers thrust into the midst of it all performed admirably in saving what could be saved in the early stages of the operation, this is their story.

-AREA OF OPERATIONS-

Your team is stationed in what is the US foreign policy sole success story in the middle east.
A tiny democratic nation nestled in between larger neighbours that are on the brink of being failed states under occupation of foreign western and eastern forces and their respective allies.
Much of the north is mountainous where the only distiniguishing feature is a major river that snakes it's way south onto flatter train.
Most of the citizens live in the south where the only large centers of population are located, your team is stationed outside the nations second largest city just south of the northern mountain ranges.

As far as military operations go this is a backwater, your team is here too train and advice the local militias who hunt and kill terrorist fighters in the border regions of the country as the terrorists try to bypass military strongpoints on the other side of the border.
Officially the US has pulled all it's armed forces from the nation and entrusted the border defence to a small national army and local militias led by warlords.
Apart from your team there are some forward air controllers embedded with militias on certain operations, a handful of CIA spooks based near you at a blacksite along with contractors who support their operations and lastly a small marine force providing security at the embassy in the capital.


-GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG I: SETTING THE STAGE-

A warlord from a neighbouring nation with ties to a terror organization has made it past the allied militias in the mountainous north of the country and set himself up in a villa.
He and his fighters are suspected to have orchestrated a deadly bombing in Frankfurt, this presents an opportunity to arrest him when he is on unfamiliar terrain with a small group of loyal fighters.
Approach in unmarked vehicles without assistance from the local militia and bring him in for questioning at a blacksite further south where both the CIA and personel from the BND are waiting.
