Attract Talent Assignment Buff

Description
This mod makes Attract Talent a more reliable way of gaining new characters for the Yellow Turban Rebellion.

Problem:
Something that frustrated me on my Yellow Turban campaigns was that I would often quickly run out of characters, despite using attract talent as often as possible.

I decided to see how the assignment works:
  • The assignment was 5 turns long and had a 1 turn recall period.
  • For each character per turn using the assignment, there is a 33% chance of getting the dilemma for the duration of the assignment.
  • Once that dilemma has fired though, no other recruitment dilemma could occur for 5 turns.

This essentially means that you would need to dedicate around 3 characters to performing the assignment all the game to roughly provide 1 fresh recruit every 5 turns. Any more characters on assignment would have no additional impact - 1 character per 5 turns is your limit.

This is not enough as it is pretty much your ONLY source of characters.

Solution:
As such I have made the following changes to attract talent to make it more reliable, but balanced enough to require thought about how to cycle your characters into assignments and other duties.

  • The assignment now only lasts 1 turn, with a 5 turn recall period.
  • The dilemma has a 75% chance to fire.
  • The dilemma has no time limit and can fire the next turn.

These changes make the assignment MUCH more reliable and scale-able, but is still balanced with the 5 turn recall.

Future Plans:
I am also looking at the old "man of the hour" events to see if I can bring them back in for additional recruitment.

Compatibility:
This mod edits some vanilla values and may conflict with assignment overhauls (that edit YTR), mods that impact the recruitment dilemma or interact with the YTR assignment script.

Great concept to make YTR factions more enjoyable! While the dilemma is indeed more likely to happen, I notice it still occurs every 5 turns. Not sure if anybody else is facing same issue. Any ideas why?

Great mod thanks, but is there any chance you could make a version that fires 100% and has recall of 2 please?
He Yi has a massive army limit bonus, but I don't even have enough people to fill court positions sadly! I feel a peasant rebellion should have the ability to get a lot of leaders unlike a noble faction.
Thanks!

thesniperdevil, Does this require a new campaign to work? All the best VB.

I would suggest u keeping the mechanic the same, 1 turn to start, 1 turn to cancel. The 5 turns period will start at an RNG baseline of 33%, 50%, 66 or 100%. Every turn, the RNG will change by adding the starting baseline w/ the partial remaining. For ex: if we start at 33%, the 5 slots will be each 13.4% (100%-33%/5) so in the end, we always get a character, some earlier and some late depending on the baseline RNG seed. CA implementation of this mechanic is so sucky but then there is the gathering sandbox to summon a character at will.

Also, this mod also creates a problem locking a character for 5 turns when u want to cancel his assignment immediately.

I see a problem w/ the starting rank recruit period. Your buff currently enable only 1 turn & 4 dead turns. Should be enabled more.

Ah the English version is up, the translated version is for those with steam language set to Simplified Chinese. If its that bad I will just remove it. (if you would like to contribute by providing a better translation, let me know!

Damn man. You'd better put the English version of intro up. Google really sucks. I could hardly understand:steamfacepalm:
