Dedicated Service Roads - Busways

Description
This is a set of dedicated service roads designed to get buses and service vehicles between districts, while avoiding busy intersections and also preventing the creation of new traffic issues.

This set contains 6 types of dedicated busway:
  • 2-lane, 1-way
  • 2-lane, 1-way with decorative grass
  • 2-lane, 1-way with decorative trees
  • 2-lane, 2-way
  • 2-lane, 2-way with decorative grass
  • 2-lane, 2-way with decorative trees

The above images show the roads with left-hand traffic, but they work exactly as intended with right-hand traffic.

These do not use any new meshes or props; they are simply alterations of default roads so there shouldn't be any impact on performance.

I got the idea for this after watching a roundabout between an established industrial area and a new commercial area grind to halt. Much of the traffic caught in this situation was buses and service vehicles (garbage trucks, police cars, road maintenance etc), so I looked into ways of seperating out residential and industrial/commercial traffic from everything else.

These busways use the behaviour of bus lanes from the main game; bus-priority instead of bus-only, meaning all types of traffic will use them if there are no better routes. However, by using the exceptional Traffic Manager mod, residential and goods vehicles can be banned, allowing buses and service vehicles to travel between different areas much more easily without providing new routes for residents or goods traffic.

I've had a lot of success using these to connect industrial areas to commercial areas. Residents and industrial/commercial vehicles use the main roads, utilising roundabouts and traffic lights, while buses and service vehicles take a dedicated bypass route to move between each area. The 1-way versions also make effective bus terminals.

Each type of busway has a dark red/crimson road colouration which can be changed with the Network Skins mod. The first image above was taken with default visual settings, but LUTs and map themes could alter the colours.

Potentially incompatible with other mods that change road colours.

Due to these roads using bus-lane behaviours, the After Dark DLC is required.

I've listed the Traffic Manager: President Edition mod as required only for the guarantee that these roads will be used as designed, but they should still have some useful functionality without the mod.

If you have any issues or suggestions, please feel free to comment. I made these for myself but uploaded them in case anyone else could use them, so I'd like to make them as usable as possible.

@BickyMonster what about those vanilla European road signs on those busway roads? Can those be changed to American road signs?

@Ichika421 It may be possible to do that with the Intersection Marking Tool mod. I don't know if it's possible to add lines like that without creating a custom mesh, which is something I want to avoid to minimise impact on performance.

Can you make them American with a double-yellow solid line? that would be good for my American cities in Cities Skylines.
