Description
Linke-Hofmann-Busch VT-2E DMU and VTA bi-mode MU. Developed upon a request by AKN in the 1970, Linke-Hofmann-Busch (LHB) used their previous experience with the Hamburg light-rail and Amsterdam Metro to produce a light DMU which shared many components with the aforementioned types.

In 1987, the Frankfurt-Königstein Railway was looking for a replacement for their rail-busses and tried several types for use on the Königstein Railway. Only a loaned AKN VT2 was able to fulfil all requirements, so the FKE approached LHB about modifications to the VT2 platform. The resulting VT-2E was lengthened, had its top speed increased to 100 kph and received stronger engines. This is the vehicle depicted in this mod.

In 1993, AKN ordered another 18 units with the lengthened chassis, 8 of which have since then been modified for bi-mode operations using the 3rd rail of the Hamburg light rail. This variant (VTA) is also included.

In this mod:

VT2E in FKE (Frankfurt-Königsteiner Eisenbahn) and HLB (Hessische Landesbahn) liveries.
VTA in AKN livery.
