Description
This simple terrain mod removes extraneous terrain MA, MD and Accuracy buffs attributed to being in the woods or the water.

Forest Stalker no longer gives more accurate arrows from tree cover.

Forest Strider no longer makes axes swing harder because trees.

Aquatic no longer makes it harder to hit the river trolls in the shallows.

These attributes still play a role in movement and engaging enemies in favored terrain, and I would argue may even be more impactful to the flow of battle, but is no longer a permanent buff or debuff on the troopers within the terrain piece.

Simplified Terrain Effects follows a simple matrix shown above that impacts speed and charge bonus only. This is a closer translation to what I grew up playing with on table top as well as is more realistic to most terrain impacts on soldiers.

This is a minor debuff to Wood Elves, Lizardmen and Vampire Coast but one you will hardly notice. Abilities have not been impacted and still have full impact and terrain related effects.

Tell me more about Terrain Effects. Yeah, I learned a lot about terrain effects putting this mod together and listening to the discussion from other players on the topic. The best way to determine what effects each unit is receiving is to select the individual unit and then hover over the terrain piece. You will see a tiny tree/rock symbol and you will see a title and description with green or red text included if your unit will be augmented with buffs or debuffs within. You cannot do this with multiple units selected because each unit may interact differently. You will never see the buff show up on the unit card in green like a phase or effect, but it’s there just as surely as any charge bonus is applied. The buff is applied individually to each model depending on it’s position within or without the terrain. It’s down to the nitty gritty man to man.

Nigh 100% Compatibility: As far as I know this should be fully compatible with most if not all mods... Exceptions may include mods that have ground_type_to_start_effects_table in practical terms... as scarce as hen’s teeth. Generally, you shouldn't want this mod and another base terrain effecting mod.

If you like this mod, you might also like my Norsca Terrain Bugfix, so you can see the correct terrain effects occurring.

This mod was made with help from folks at the Modding Den[discord.gg]. Special thanks to Norse who explained where to find the terrain stat effects tables. Special thanks also goes to Loupi who suggested these or similar changes on the balance forum.

That is all there is to say about this little mod vignette.

I hope you all enjoy it! Let me know what you think in the comments below.
