Originally posted by Kirby Star Allies:
The final battle at hand, Void takes his first steps toward a new age. In place of tyrannical rage, will he find... naptime? Gentle breezes? Treats? He may even dream again... a dream of friends reunited!.

Astral Birth Void, Created for Zetta's Another Workshop Jam, is a floaty zoner with large normals and powerful projectiles to wall off the opponent's approach. Utalize his flexible Fspecial projectile in tandem with projectile barrages and lasers to dominate the battlefield.

Gimmick: Fspecial - Voidling
Using his Fspecial, Void will spit out a Voidling onto the field which will begin to start traveling forward. It will travel forward in whatever direction Void is facing, allowing you to control a great amount of horizontal space without having to actively contest that space. If opponents are nearby, the Voidling will rapidly home in on the enemy before it erupts into a black hole which rapidly hits the opponent, allowing for easy combo extensions on hit. While the Voidling is very powerful in its own right, it is still as fragile as an average projectile

Special Attacks

Neutral Special - Light Array
Void charges energy before unleashing it in a wild barrage of projectiles. Nspecial is a chargeable projectile in the vein of Ranno's Needles, firing off a barrage of projectiles that get shot off in a fan like spread at higher levels of charge. The projectiles fired from Nspecial travel extremely quickly, covering a ton of ground over a short span of time. Performing it in the air shoots projectiles at a diagonal down angle instead of straight forward.

If you hit a Voidling with one of the Nspecial projectiles, the Voidling will be sent traveling along the flight path of the projectile.

Forward Special 2 - Voidling Divide
Void curls into itself for a bit before expanding its aura into a star shape while letting out an ominous laugh. Doing so causes active Voidlings to split into two weaker minions that travel at diagonal angles, bouncing off of any surfaces they make contact with. These weaker minions don't erupt into black holes on hit, though they do launch opponents towards his current location.

Up Special - Refraction Warp
Void rapidly expands and contracts, gaining a slight bit of height in the process. If a Voidling is out on the field, Void will shrink into a single point before reappearing at the Voidling's location while spinning a set of energy mirrors around them rapidly, hitting opponents repeatedly if they get to close. If Void performs the Uspecial while very close to the Voidling, they will bounce up with extreme speed instead of teleporting to it, giving them a massive burst of safe vertical velocity to utilize. Holding parry during Uspecial while a Voidling is out will prevent them from interacting with the minion, allowing you to mix up what you intend to do. Uspecial has several variations, most of which are beholden to you having a Voidling on screen, so proper placement of your Fspecial to get the recovery tool you want is key.

Down Special - Radiant Matter
Void's face morphs into one large eye as his form transforms into the radiant visage of a recognizable foe while summoning a ball of energy which slowly builds until releasing a powerful laser beam. This move acts as a powerful stage control option, creating a delayed beam which covers a ton of horizontal space while leaving Void safe to move once its active. This beam does go away if Void gets before it becomes active, making it risky to put out unless you have the space to get away with it. While you're summoning the beam, you are able to freely fly around in a manner similar to the Void boss fight, allowing for additional movements to help get the beam out safely. This also works as a strong recovery tool, albeit a fairly risky one due to the high commitment of the attack.

Notable Attacks / Details

Jab - Spiral
Void summons two energy mirrors which they spin around themselves rapidly. A multi hit jab that's functionally similar to Hodan Jab, with it's active duration looping for as long as you hold the button. Just tapping the button will only perform the 1st jab by itself, acting as a decently quick and safe check in neutral.

Dattack - Blaze
Void's body darkens into a blackened sphere before bursting forward in a blazing inferno. Visually reminiscent of Kirby's Dash attack in Smash Bros Ultimate, this is a slow to start dattack that deals high damage and sports high kill power that can go off ledges to catch unsuspecting opponents. Holding up during Dattack will cause him to travel slightly upwards during its duration, allowing for you to make your usage of the attack more tricky.

Fstrong - Luminescence
Void floats off of the ground before unleashing a thin beam across the ground, creating a trail of energy which explodes shortly afterwards. This attack packs immense range and kill power, making it a strong punish tool at high percents. Notably, the damage of this move is variable based on how far out the move's initial beam hits. Hitting this move as close as possible does the maximum amount of damage, dealing a hefty 20% without any charge. Use it wisely.

Nair - Divide
Void expands briefly before splitting into two smaller copies of himself, weaving in between each other before they reform themselves into one whole. This move is an excellent combo starter and extender, dealing good damage while keeping opponents locked in for the whole duration. Notably, this move sports a thin sweetspot straight in the middle of the initial split which deals more damage and knockback than the rest of the attack, sporting the same vertical kill power as Kragg Uair.

Dair - Blur
Void's form expands, warps, and bends before disappearing, quickly reemerging with a burst of energy. This is an odd, pseudo stall-and-fall that is slow to start but sports a brief bit of invincibility as it travels and bounces off of opponents on hit for some solid combo extensions. You are able to direct where this attack travels by holding left or right, allowing you to slip past the opponent's grasp, though it is still slow and committal on its own making it liable to get punished.

And that's all, oh lord of darkness.

We hope you enjoy the character! We had a blast making him and hope that others will enjoy him as much as we have over the course of his development. Feel free to give any feedback in the comments or in the servers we've listed below.

Sorry for not having a steam description for so long. As with many things having to do with Void's post release, other projects has slowed down our ability to support him past his initial release. Thank you for being patient with us.

Will there be a competitive / more balanced version of the character? I love his kit and how unique it is. Truly a fun character, and it shows a lot of promise!

Unfortunately I found out the hard way that he isn't balanced during an online match. I really liked his kit too... unsubbed.

@The Ogrelord I think I was considering it at one point... I've never really given that much thought though (I've yet to attempt making a stage anyways... so maybe at some point)
