1890's Collier

Description
This ship is an 1890's Collier. It is coal fired. These ships were bulk cargo ships designed to haul coal.

These ships were a hard place to work. The coal at least in part was loaded by hand. This ship uses the coal dock which drops coal into the hold. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2504861898 Other methods at the time were to use cranes to drop wagons into the hold. The coal would then be moved and leveled by hand by crews called trimmers. To unload, a hopper would be lowered into the hold by crane and the men in the hold would fill it by shovel. When full the crane would raise the hopper and repeat the process. I have included a steam crane that is based on period correct examples. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2525602668

Ship operation:

1. Head down to the boiler room in the lowest level of the stern of the ship
2. press both of the buttons to light the furnaces
3. Make sure the hopper on top of the furnaces are full (the furnaces are hand fed as the would be at the time. The fuel last for about 30 minutes. You can refill the furnaces with large storage hoppers by the telegraph in the boiler room)
4. Head to the bridge
5. To smother the furnaces use the throttles behind the furnaces

Controls:

W/S- controls the steam valves allowing the turbines to spin and the prop to rotate. If the throttle is below zero the prop will spin in reverse.

A/D - Controls the rudder. The rudder is sticky and position is denoted by a gauge to the port of the helm.

Helm 2 - Raise anchors (these are decorative)
Helm 3 Lower anchors
Helm 4 Raise/Lower coal doors

Button starboard to the bridge door controls the lanterns throughout the ship.

Enjoy

I released it 435 days ago. It is likely that something the devs changed has broken it. It is unlikely that I go back to it.

The ship will move a little then stop. The Boilers get smokey and the Boiler pressure is at 0
