I've put the particular pods in this workshop version in the station that you get with Easy Start 2. They are located in the room that the Medbay would normally be in.

Step one: Turn on Gravity Generator labelled "Escape Pod 1".
Step two: Get into Escape Pod 1
Step three: Turn on power to Pod 1 and turn on the Artificial Mass block in the menu.
Step four: Release the landing gear by hitting "P"
Step five: Watch and enjoy the view as you drift away to a safe distance.
Step six: When you decide you'd actually like to change your direction, engage inertial dampeners by pressing "Z" and then fly to your hearts content!
