City-State Trait: Snow Tiles give +1 Faith. Ice Tiles in your territory provide a +2 Appeal bonus and a standard adjacency bonus to the yields of Campuses, Commercial Hubs, Holy Sites, Industrial Zones, Harbors and Theater Squares.

History:
Located atop Yggdrasil, Asgard is the citadel of the Ases, the Norse gods, of whom Odin is the king. He built his quarters in the center of the city, named Idavoll. Then he named the twelve other Aesir who would live nearby. Asgard contains several temples. That of Gladsheim is the seat of the Ases, the temple of Vingolf is that of the Asynes. Among the other great places of the city and arguably the most important, there is the Valhalla, where Hlidskialf the throne of Odin is located, and where reside the Einherjar, the warriors elected by the Valkyries to fight during the Ragnarök alongside of Odin. The city is inviolable, protected by an impassable wall, built by a giant. The Bifrost, a rainbow bridge, guarded by Heimdall, links it to Midgard, the land of men. Odin ordered the construction of the citadel from the giant builders, after the creation of the humans, but they demanded in exchange the Sun, the Moon and Freyja in exchange. Faced with such a proposal, the gods did not know what to do, but Loki made a deal: if the fortress was not built in three semesters, then they would pay nothing. The giants agreed and everyone was satisfied, each thinking they had duped the other. However, the deadline finally approached and the giants were on schedule. The gods asked Loki to spy on the construction site and he realized that the giants were using the mighty horse Svaldifari to transport the stones. Three days before the deadline expired, Loki had to act, because the other Aesir looked on him dimly for he was the one who had negotiated. He transformed into a rutting mare and for the next three nights he lured and Svaldifari, being chased. Distracted from his task, Svaldifari does not complete his task and the site wastes time, going past the deadlines. The giant builders returned home furious and like the others of their race, they became enemies of the Aesir.
