Improved Torpedo Maintenance [B129]

Description
After research, I cannot find any reliable sources citing a schedule of maintenance for G7a (T1) torpedoes or how long the lead-acid batteries on G7e (T2-T5) torpedoes would remain at optimal performance before cooling. So this mod attempts to replicate greater realism based on data from uboat.net, some assumptions, and provide a better gameplay experience in the process.

G7a (T1) torpedoes
The maintenance cooldown period is extended from 20 minutes to 12 hours. G7a’s did not require heating and should have been fine in the tube for long periods. 12 hours was chosen to simulate the benefit of scheduled preventative checks and maintenance during the course of the day. Now there’s a genuine reason to have your engineers maintain torpedoes as one of their scheduled tasks.

This mod also rewards maintenance with an increase in range to historically cited values of 6000m, 8000m, and 14000m depending on running speed.

G7e (T2-T5) torpedoes
The maintenance cooldown period is extended from 20 minutes to 30 minutes. I am sure that lead-acid batteries did not simply go from warm-to-cold on the spin of a second. They likely lost performance progressively as the battery became colder. Since the game doesn’t model a gradual decline, I extended the time to something that seems more realistic (30 minutes). This also provides enough time for one mechanic to warm all four bow tubes before worrying if tube I is about to suddenly go cold behind a closed door as your target is entering the sweet spot.

From all I can gather, the difference between warm and cold batteries entirely related to propulsion. Accordingly, warm T2 & T3 torpedoes now have a cited range of 7500m compared to 4500m for cold T2 & T3 eels based on info published on uboat.net.


NOTE: This mod only alters cooldown periods and range to simulate realistic technical conditions as described on uboat.net and plausibility where relevant (e.g., T1 cooldown times). All other values (e.g., dud chances, pistol activation angles, damage, etc.) remain at their vanilla configuration.

This mod alters the torpedo entries in Entites\Equipment and will likely conflict with other mods that change values for torpedoes.

This mod is not savegame compatible.

@Mal0 ver1.0.0 What issue is the mod causing? Seems to work fine on my end. If it is the mod manifest saying its out-of-date, ignore it.

hi,dev.could u add the realistic torpedo weight in store as a gift,so I wont load one more mod which is created by myself you know.And I increase the price of torpedo a bit as well.

Yeah its tricky to adjust the torpedo parameters via datasheets, duplicated values for parameters are stored at multiple places.

In UBOAT, T1 torpedo range is 7500m regardless of the speed setting. This mod does not change that.
The value probably comes from somewhere other than Entities.xlsx
