Description
The Zhàndòujī bèikè (Zhan-do-chi bay-kuh) or the fighter baker was a Soviet-Chinese collaboration at a medium tank. It failed in the early 1970's but was brought up again in 1979. Many of them were made, but never used until the 1990s when they were sold at mass to the Balkans, and the Middle-east.

A medium tank is a classification of tanks, particularly prevalent during World War II which represented a compromise between the mobility oriented light tanks and the armour and armament oriented heavy tanks. A medium tank's classification is not actually based on weight, but off of tactical usage and intended purpose.[citation needed] The most widely produced, cost effective and successful tanks of World War II (the German Panzer IV, the Soviet T-34, and the American M4 Sherman) were all medium tank designs. Many of the medium tank lines became what are called main battle tanks in most countries.

From the early half of the 20th century, tanks were initially obtained from other countries; eventually indigenously designed Chinese tanks started manufacture and became used during the Cold War and towards the modern era.
