Clinchfield Railroad GP38 and SD40 Pack

Description
(Requires two packs):
Pain's A trains legacy SD40-2 Pack
Space's GP38-2 Livery Support

(This pack includes eight Clinchfield locomotives; four GP38s and four SD40s. Two of each locomotive are in CRR black, while the others are in CRR grey).

The Clinchfield Railroad is one of the classic ‘fallen flag’ railroads. It was in operation from 1902 to 1983, and ran between Spartanburg, South Carolina and Elkhorn City, Kentucky. The line was mainly a coal hauler, but also had general freight and passenger trains.

Clinchfield had 10 EMD GP38s and 24 SD40s on their roster. The GP38s were built in 1967, while the SD40s were built in 1966, 1968 and 1971. The CRR was absorbed into the ‘Family Lines’ group in the mid-1970s, which also included the Louisville & Nashville and Seaboard Coast Line. In January 1983, these companies merged to create the Seaboard System, which was eventually taken over by CSX.

The specific engines included in this pack are GP38s 2002, 2005, 2008 and 2009 as well as SD40s 3006, 3009, 3015 and 3022. If my research is correct, this is what happened to the aforementioned engines are Clinchfield became a fallen flag:

2002 - inherited by CSX as their 2182, and still operates today as Amtrak GP38-3 No. 720
2005 - later CSX 2185, now retired
2008 - later CSX 2188, went on to serve with Union Pacific and Kansas City Southern.
2009 - later CSX 2189, now retired
3006 - later Seaboard 8281 and CSX 8340, now retired
3009 - later Seaboard 8234 and CSX 8343, now rebuilt as SD40-3 No. 4333
3015 - later CSX 8349, eventually sold to National Railway Equipment Co.
3022 - later Seaboard 8297 and CSX 8356, now rebuilt as SD40-3 No. 4325
