Description
I'm a little late on this, but I don't think it's any secret. This is a rebuild of JRandal's Nomad-XT.

First, I'll throw out the numbers eveyone may want to know.
- 12 Cargo/Ammo/Harvest Box's (10x320k, 2x312k)
- Hangar Bay Workshop: 2-Advanced & 2 Small Consturctors, Deconstructor, Repair Bay
- 8x Large Color Back-lit Generators peaking around 80% Utilization
- 600MN Down Thrust for High-G / Heavy Lift Capability
- 130MN Strafe and 260MN Forward, Reverse and Upward Thrust
- 7x 30mm Turrets, 4x Missile Turrets, 4x Plasma Turrets and 4x Artillery Cannons
- Advanced Warp Drive, Advanced Shield Generator and Long-Range Radar installed
- 36 Grow Plots, one Food Processor and 3 Fridge's
- Full Compliment of CPU Extenders (5-Adv, 2-Improved, 1-Basic) with 2.075/2.100 million used
- 100Hrs of Reduced Power operations (Fridge's, Grow Plots, O2 and Ventilators)
- Custom Switch Dashboard for centralized Equipment Control

If you like a good story, read on.

So... there may have been drinking involved when SFC-Maz decided to enter the atmosphere of a 4G Planet.
One thing led to another, and he now has a Heavy Lift, High-G, Reforged Eden version of JRandal's ever favorite Nomad-XT (Reforged by IdleGroot).

I Love JRandals work and have converted several ship's for Reforged Eden. All have taken quite a bit of "Engineering" to fit within the 2.1Million CPU limitation, and still be a viable, maneuverable, Hearty ship. Nomad-XT is no exception.

I gutted the entire interior to the outer skin, removed all engines and turrets, sealed up all the holes, and started the rebuild from there. I converted all 1/4 thick blocks to either 1/2 or Full blocks to make her a little Heartier, while doing everything I could to keep with JRandal's Texturing (Which I cannot fathom how to do from scratch). In places where there was a 1/2 block or less, I have added a full block (or Cargo Extender) to increase skin thickness.

I identified new engine locations and modified the shell to hold them. This required some creative expanding of the ship which, in the end, resulted in her being 2 blocks taller and 4 blocks wider (I think). The engine positions were placed as "far out" as possible to give her the leverage she needs to be Nimble and Maneuverable... not just powerful.

I've added a couple of Turret Locations to the ship and have three Un-populated hard-points if anyone wants to swap the 4 expensive Plasma Turrets for Less Expensive Laser or 15/30mm turrets. I have retrofit'd the flight Deck Ceiling to hold a Laser Drill Turret for rapid mining of Asteroids (a major Mid-Game requirement for me). This version also comes with 4 Artillery Turrets tucked into the Engine Wells.

I have rebuild the front Boarding Ramp to be fully enclosed. This was a sore point for me, and although it appears to be more secure (and tougher) than the original design, I'm not happy with how it affected the "room" it leads into. I tried many different layouts... and I really can't seem to get one that works for me. Maybe a new version will come later.

Inside, I was able to maintain the Hangar size, even with 2 Drive and 2 large Thrusters taking up floor-space. CPU Extenders have been placed in view, along with the 8 Large Generators and Advanced Warp Engine. Most are behind Armored Glass so you can see Damage, and with quick removal, fix any damaged device. I'm not much on "presentation", but I think I did a pretty good job on Back-Lighting and placement of the hardware; most everything is in-sight, but still protected and out of the way, including the Engines. The Grow Plot area didn't see much change from the original. I've added a Hangar Overlook deck where all the O2 Tanks and the Core are located... again, protected by Heavy Armored Glass and full-Sized Armored Blocks.

I have only made minor changes to the flight deck, but removed several walls switch's. I am not much of a fan of wall switch's as they take up valuable floor space. To balance that out, I programmed the Console Switch's to allow full control of everything that is controllable. I have added a layer of Heavy Armored Glass in front of the existing flight deck glass that gives purpose to the "Bumper Rails" that were already in place and add's HP when taking Fire head-on.

I found new and creative ways to put in 12 very large Cargo Box's (10x320k, 2x312k) with most of them being "Over-Built". Meaning, they are actually 340-360k, so if an Extender is blown up... you don't lose capacity. Just be careful what you remove in the Hangar... It might be a Cargo Extender. All Cargo Box Controllers are in view and can be accessed by Non-God-Mode characters, which means a 320 "Junk" box can be easily converted to another 320k Ammo Box. I have pre-labeled the Cargo Box's to what I would normally call them... relabel at will.

After the ship was "Reforged", I did my best to paint it back to the way it was (I painted the entire skin Yellow in the beginning to see the outer skin from the inside). I do not possess anything close to JRandal's Creative mind, I'm an Engineer, but I was able to repaint the Major Textures to match the original Nomad-XT (on the outside). The inside... is all Groot. Repaint as you see fit.

I'm sure there will be many more corrections to this ship (I have done 15 updates in the past 24hrs) as I find small things wrong with it. I'm confident the ship is 100% Functional... but only 75% complete cosmetically.

I have a Reforged Eden 2 (Lite) version built. It is a 7-Core.
I am modifying and pushing updates as I "Refine" it, during use.
Should I overwrite this Workshop Item, or make the RE2 version public for you to Subscribe?

With the new changes that require researching the Tech Tree, prior to being able to use a blue Print... I could see that being a must. I'll consider an LTE version, with upgrade path.

Reforged Eden v1.7 put us 117k over CPU.
I dropped the Long-Range Radar for a standard Radar and swapped most of the Plasma Turrets for either Laser or 30mm turrets. We're well under CPU.
If you don't mind being slightly over... you could upgrade the Radar to Long-Range. Shouldn't be too much of a hit.
Everything else remained intact.

Yes, after the mods this ship is a killer.. I too want to mod the front end with heavy glass. Wiggles and I replaced the thrusters with nacells but I would really like to use the large drive thrusters.

Glad you like it. I haven't modified it since the "debut" with JRandal.
I still want to redo that front, lower room, just haven't had time.
I'm looking forward to Reforged Eden 1.7 so I can restart and see if this still fits the bill, so to speak.

The ship is very close to the original.
The original version was very well built as well, but just didn't cut in Reforged Eden.
