ATSF Warbonnet B40-8W Add-On Pack

Description
(Requires Halton's original GE B40-8 pack).

(This pack includes an extra seven number variants for the B40-8W model).

(This pack includes eight additional number variants for the original B40-8W model. The specific numbers of 509, 524, 537, 552, 565, 578 and 580 were chosen because those are the same numbers as carried by eight of the Auckland Transport AM class electric multiple units).

(I was originally going to include 511 as well, until I realised that that engine is already in the original B40-8W pack).

The B40-8W is a four-axle road switcher locomotive built by General Electric. The prototype was built in 1988, with a further 83 production engines built between 1990 and 1992. The Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway was the only railroad to order the B40-8W.

Each part of the locomotive’s designation refers to the following aspects:

B: Bo-Bo wheel arrangement (two 4-axle bogies; all eight axles are powered)
40: 4,000 horsepower
-8: Dash 8 locomotive series
W: wide-cab

In their Santa Fe days, the B40-8Ws were used on fast freight trains throughout the western United States. Incidentally engine 576 was involved in the 1994 Cajon Pass derailment. All of the four-axle Dash 8s were inherited by BNSF upon the ATSF and BN merger in 1995.

Although these engines were built for fast, intermodal service, they had been relegated to local freight service by the early 2000s. BNSF has since sold at least 15 B40-8Ws to a few short lines and class 2 or class 3 railroads, but as of 2019 they still have 60 of these engines on their roster.

Santa Fe 578, which is featured in this pack, is now owned by the Arkansas and Oklahoma Railroad. She retains her old number, and still carries her old BNSF livery (albeit with Arkansas and Oklahoma logos in place of the old ones).

As for the other seven engines featured in this pack, they are all still around today. If my research is correct, the current state of each engine is as follows:

509 - now painted in the H4 livery in 2017, and still in service with BNSF today
511 - repainted in the H2 livery in 2002, and still in service with BNSF as recently as 2017
524 - repainted in the H4 livery in 2008, and still in service with BNSF today
537 - repainted in the H2 livery in 2001, and still in service with BNSF today
552 - retains her faded Warbonnet livery (albeit with BNSF logos), and still in service with BNSF
565 - repainted in the H2 livery in 2003; remained in service with BNSF as recently as 2009
580 - repainted in the H2 livery; sold to the West Tennessee Railroad in 2011
