But to describe the issue for an idea to fix it, is that I died, and went back to my ship, but every time I respawn I'd immediately die again in a never ending loop, tried unsubscribing from it and the character file was still broken.

Just a warning, DO NOT SHOOT YOUR FRIENDS WITH THIS in Starbound. It will break their character completely.
