[NS] Alsvidr Shuttle

A 160-block all-terrain armoured buggy, with all-wheel steering and thrust vectoring.
⨴ All-wheel steering and thrust vectoring improve maneuverability at all speeds.
⨴ The turret can be used to right the car if it rolls over.
⨴ It can run into a wall at full speed and not take any damage.


Little more than sheet metal boxes on wheels, the Alsvidr was a vital conveyor of materiel to the front lines and people to evacuation shuttles. Able to navigate terrain other vehicles would not dare at speeds they could not reach, no small number of evacuees owed their lives to its existence.

In the modern day, it sees use as a civilian runabout. Obviously better vehicles are available to anyone who wants them, but its simplicity lends itself well to modification and tuning, and its agility proves eternally attractive to those with a need for speed.


As with most of my ground vehicles, this was built out of spite.
It was designed for AMC #27: Dune Buggies.

This is a rebuilt version using suspension designed by gaibort and several new building techniques developed in the years since. It addresses several issues with the original design (which caused it to get dumpstered in the contest), including the high fragility of the hull, stiff and fragile suspension, high ride height, excessive weight, etc. and is overall a much nicer vehicle to drive.

Obviously the Elucidator wasn't an off-road car, but it was funny at the time to submit a bizarre-looking racecar to an off-road contest. The Alsvidr, in comparison, is a much more serious entry.

Shuttles are dedicated cargo and crew transport craft.
They carry their payloads to and from orbit and beyond. While planetside shuttles are typically the smallest of practical spaceships, their orbital counterparts are often the largest.
