Ship Details

The HDP, or Heavy Defense Platform is the premier method of defense for Space Stations and Mining Operations of the UEF. The Platform is classified as a Ship as it is designed to align itself to a Solar Body to reduce Reactor and Hydrogen Engine usage.

The HDP was designed an in effort to replace the MDP (Medium Defense Platform), which was previous classed as the Heavy Defense Platform, as it was found lacking in fire power to deal with the large and more increasing threats. Coming in at 1200 tons of heavy armor, and with Defense Shield Technology, the Platform is armed with a wide array of 230mm cannons for long range engagement and 25mm Point Defense Cannons for short range.

The Platform has 3 connectors for resupply, or it can house 3 attack drones to help assist it in defense. The Platform has a remote block with a camera to view the LCD's for status and can be switched to forward camera for movement. A Single HDP is capable of defending against a Heavy Frigate; however, seldom are the platforms deployed alone. They are usually strung in overlapping fields of 3 Platforms meaning that any ship engaging one will have to at least deal with 2 or possible all 3 based on angle of attack. This makes them very deadly indeed.

Due to the usage of heavy armor, they are costly for production, so are reserved for operations needing serious defense.
