Trident-class Medium Defense Platform Mk2

Ship Details

The Trident MDP, originally classed as a HDP, was designed as a necessity for Station and Outpost Defense. It was found that during the war with the Beast that many stations while being able to knock out enemy ships, received heavy fire and were subsequently rammed by enemy ships while going down an in attempt to cause more damage before their ships detonated.

The UEF, Hiigarian Navy, and many others have deployed Defense Platforms in the past, mostly for Point Defense against enemy Missiles and small craft, such as the LDP, or Light Defense Platform armed with Defense Cannons.

A Project was undertaken to rapidly develop a platform that could be set a distance from any station or outpost and give it defense coverage allowing it to take out an enemy before it could attempt serious damage to any port. It had to be made of heavy armor and be capable of being without refuel or resupply for sometime. The Trident was that effort.

Armed with a serious of Long, Medium, and Short range armaments, it is designed to be deployed in a Trinity with 2 other platforms to give overlapping coverage to force an enemy to deal with 2 or more at a time. The design was a success for many years, but newer enemies are using ships that are now capable of handling such vessels, which lead to the development of the Neptune-class HDP, and the reclassification of the Trident into a MDP.

Fitted with 2 Remote blocks, one as a backup, it can be remove controlled to relocate or to have it return for refuel/rearm. The platform is also fitted with Defense Shields to allow it to sustain combat for longer.

Salt Squad Mod Pack 5 and 2 are OKI's Weapons and Mexpex Industries balanced and adjusted on damage, updated sound files that I added from actual naval gun fire for OKI, and a few other times. You can run the ship with your own OKI/Mexpex mods as they are the same models/scripts other than minor tweaking.
