The Paktu-class Medium Jump Freighter is a licensed hull from the Alpha Orionis Engineering Yards at the Betelgeuse Shipyards. The UEF needed a sturdy hull capable of atmospheric reentry since they had mostly operated Ion based freighters for Deep Space Operations. BSY/AOE introduced a redesigned Torus-hull to meet the specifications put forth by the UEF. The original Torus was not capable of fitting a Jump Drive; however, the hull was redesigned to include a Single Jump Drive, allowing the Paktu to make short jumps with a full hull. This is however, a shorter distance than the current mainstay of the UEF hauler fleet, the Pegasus, which has 3 jump drives. The main difference is the cost and the ability to make atmospheric entry.

Her hull was also reinforced midships with reinforced girders. Another required change was her to be able to run on Hydrogen Fuel only, to reduce the pull on wartime materials such as Nuclear fuel for reactors. As such, the vessels runs on 4 Hydrogen Engines instead of reactors. She is also armed with 4 Gatling turrets for basic self defense, but they are mostly used to shoot down incoming meteor showers that are common near a few worlds being colonized by the UEF.

This ship is included in the list since it is along side the Argonaut, a common ship that we find in encounters which we tend to salvage for reuse. The original was designed by k_medlock and is located here:

Show some support by checking out his original. It was included in the game as an encounter, but due to modifications she was considered to be enough changed to warrant an inclusion in the list, especially considering that the modified vessel has a jump drive and with the DLC's has a new look overall.
