Masked Mustachio's Ungor Stalkers

Description
My wife and I recently played a Lizardman campaign for the first time. We loved the chameleon stalker units. Seriously. I know lizards have some great units that are much better than the chameleon stalkers, but they are fun to use. Shock infantry? Yes please. They are such a great unit that it encouraged me to make a unit like it for other factions. I generally avoid doing mods that mess with the balancing of faction units, but chameleon stalkers are not the best units in the game, they are just some of the most fun to use so I am less concerned about adding them to any faction.

Thus I made some Ungor Stalkers. They are Ungor. They are used by the Beastmen (our new favorite faction). They have the same stats as the Chameleon stalkers. They use the same weapon stats. They even level the same way (as they gain chevrons).

I did not add any new skills to Beastmen talent trees so the descriptions do not state Ungor Stalkers getting any improvements from the talents such as +leadership and +defense for Ungors, but if it affects Ungors in some way then it will affect these guys. That means that the talents that improve Ungor raiders and Ungor Spearmen will improve the stalkers. I felt it appropriate that both improved them since the Chameleon stalkers get improvements to both their fighting and missile weapons so having the missile and melee ungor talents improve different aspects of the Ungor Stalkers made sense to me without being overpowered.

You can recruit them from a level 1 horde since Lizards can recruit them super early in the game as well. There is a limit of 2 but increasing your faction limit for the Ungors with Shields will also increase the Stalker limit by 2 at the same time. That seemed like a logical place to put it since there would be no reason to waste dread on improving the numbers of Ungors otherwise.

I also had a bit of fun with their models. I like the idea that Ungors are ashamed of their small horns so they mostly cover them up with random helmets they have found (especially ones with horns). Only one Ungor head has horns to be proud of so that model wears nothing on their heads. Between the helmets and some shoulder armor they look a bit more armed than normal Ungors to kind of go with the slightly higher armor than otherwise naked beastmen.

Check out my other mods I made here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/id/lumparoo/myworkshopfiles/?appid=594570

Also please rate my mods so that they can get rated and noticed by other players with similar interests. I do really appreciate it.

as much as i hate beastmen, i love mods that add more beastmen units that aren't Bestigors.
we need more Ungor unit mods to fill out some of the roster. cheers for making this

Sounds good. This also gave me a chance to revisit this mod to fix the projectiles to look like arrows. Originally I just left them exactly the same style as the Chameleons but I decided to make them look like arrows since they are shooting bows. So that is what the new update is about.

In my game their skin definitely changes color depending on faction. I didn't even know Ungors did that before your comment so I went and checked. I always just thought it was their clothes. So it might be another mod you are running with it because as mentioned I did not change any DDS files which determine that. So they are all the original models. Just some extra stuff added to them.

Hey, I tinkert around with it a bit and it seems like the fur and skin won´t change the colour but the armour does. Nevermind it is just a small detail.

Keep up your great work !

Hey Prentince I did not edit the dds files that determine faction colors so unless I covered them up with the extra armor they will be exactly the same as normal ungors as far as colors are concerned. Also the shoulder pads on some of them also did not have their dds files messed with so if those changed with factions on their original models then it still will do that.

thank you for this,
is it possible to keep the colour/fur changes for the different beast factions?

So much precious metal wasted on filthy ungors... Well, at least they're fun to use!
