Dexter

Description
Dexter is a combo heavy brawler who wants to play footsies from an optimal range to open his opponent to a strong combo, with some setup synergy mixed in.

Please read below for an explanation of how he works

Neutral Special

Nspecial has three continuations after the initial hop back. If you press parry (or nothing after a while) you will simply hop forwards. Special, causes a disjointed kick. And attack causes a forwards lunging punch.

Orb
Ftilt and Dspecial place an orb. The orb has small projectile hitbox, but more importantly, it interacts with his other specials.
Nspecial-Kick launches the orb as a fireball at a 45 degree angle (you can angle it slightly by holding up or down).


Nspecial-Punch has two interactions. If you hit the orb while holding parry it will double your speed. This makes up for the required dash backwards, and can be used to approach and start or end combos.

If you don't hold parry, you will instead blast a lightning strike from the orb, popping up for combos and kill confirms.


Uspecial becomes empowered by the orb, gaining increased height, a second hit, and increased damage and knockback. If empowered Uspecial is used on the ground, you won't go into pratfall regardless of whether you hit.


Fspecial can grab and throw the orb. Hit the orb with the charging hitbox to grab it, and release to throw. The orb will be imparted speed proportional to the time you spent charging fspecial, and will gain hitstop proportional to the time it was held. Use this to reposition the orb, or as a slow (but rewarding) projectile in itself.



Assorted tips
If you use Uspecial on the ground and hit an opponent, you will not go into pratfall.

Bair is a two part move. Use bair again during its endlag to get a second strong hit. The first hit has set knockback to help it combo into the second, but you still have to space it right to get the second hit.

Dair can latch onto the ground and slam you down with a falling hitbox and small shockwave.

Fspecial gains extra hitstun and damage as it is charged (you can't store the charge), and the charging animation has a hitbox (like Lucario or Melee Mewtwo)

Hit tilts can be cancelled into Nspecial.

Hold special during Dspecial to get a larger horizontal boost

Inspiration
Dexter is inspired by a wide array of fighting game characters. Visually he's based on SF3 Oro, with gameplay inspiration taken from Ryu, Guilty Gear's Slayer, Melty Blood's Michael Roa, Smash's Megaman, etc. He's really just a big mashup of cool moves from other games, tweaked to fit together in one character

Really really cool char
I think neutral b -> attack is too good tho, active for too long and going too far in the air.
