Description

READ THE DESCRIPTION!!!
The BGM-15A "Shortsword" project begins its development shortly after the relative success of the ARCLM-2B project designed to fit a certain unmet "niche" within the market, a cost-effective, low-complexity but highly capable cruise missile system fit for mass usage. This lead to the creation of the BGM-15A, an incredibly easy-to-use and implement cruise missile system without requiring the usage of radio/communication, with what is essentially a "presumption" system made to presume the launchers intentions just before launch. The BGM-15A ended up being fairly successful in its market, supplementing the much more complex ARCLM-2B system with low-cost but high-effective cruise missiles.

The BGM-15A overall is a medium-range low-cost high-effectivity cruise missile system designed entirely to be used within a large amount without creating needless complexity, the system as a whole (Including the Common Launch Platform) contains 4 BGM-15A Cruise Missiles capable of a maximum engagement range of 27.5km and a minimum of 500m. It is capable of a highly basic presumption system, able to do rudimentary inference of the intentions of the operator without the usage of radio systems. As one may notice, there is NO video system either nor a way to infer where the missile currently is, therefore it is in your best interests to perhaps have a scout drone or another form of forward reconaissance to confirm a hit.

Features:
  • Easy to implement advanced Cruise Missile System.
  • 4x BGM-15A Cruise Missiles.
  • Rudimentary presumption system able to infer the operators intentions.
  • Impact sensing.
  • 100m minimum range, 27.5km maximum range.
  • GPS Operated stabilised turret (Common Launch Platform).

How to use effectively: (Instructions)
The BGM-15A/Common Launch Platform has been designed entirely over user ease-of-access, therefore to use effectively is quite simple. For usage, a waypoint should be placed into the keypad, clicking master arm, and then fire at a designated target.

The BGM-15A is a fairly smart missile and it will infer your intentions using its presumption (LOADS OF IF STATEMENTS!!) system depending on the info you have given it, info that it reads includes target position, its current position, the launchers position, whether or not its been fired and so on. An example of its inference system is the following: Setting a waypoint 20km away at a target when there is another target 5km away, the missile KNOWS not to hit the 5km target, or if a target is 3km from the launch site, the missile SHOULD change its guidance mode to compensate for the highly short distance. Therefore don't be afraid to give it some odd launch parameters as it should infer what the actual target is.

  • The BGM-15A Common Launch Platform can essentially be placed anywhere on a ship as long as it has freedom of rotation. Orientating the launcher within the editor however can lead to some screwy situations so it isn't recommended.
  • The system is capable of firing at targets 27.5km away max, and 500m away minimum.
  • IT IS NOT DESIGNED AT ALL TO SHOOT AIRCRAFT. THIS IS ANTI-SHIP.

Special thanks to:

Goose, one of me personal IRL friends, for making a radar-to-GPS controller and incessantly asking me to put him on the credits list. ;)

this is broken and dont work any more

Sadly in 2024 something seems wrong with the system. Absolutely love the look and the way they fly, however when approaching target they dip prematurely and splash about 20-50m from target. The effect was consistent, so I opened up the micros to play with settings. Tried messing with the distance thresholds and flight profile but effect was erratic. I believe it has something to do with the old (now depreciated) radar that the system uses and ergo broke the LUA script. I was going to update them to work and with permission reupload, but unfortunately I already sank too much time into these.

Looks great, flies great, but without an update these are not viable. Use Falkner-Muir weapons collection for your ASCM needs (collection made by same bros that make MWS-B). Less sophisticated but they work.

man i would love to see this mounted on a truck or plane, even a ship.

is there any way to move the missles out of the hanger?

the missile knows where it is because it knows where it isnt

Long distance standoff strike weapons, that's what we need.

Is it possible to develop an air launched version?

If there's no other radar contacts then yes

can this be launched from sea to a land target since mine arent arriving at the target
