Description

Control 4-2-3-1. Made this formation after I took over a Liverpool team that was sitting 18th in the table under Micheal Laudrup after the firing of Brenden Rodgers. Ended up bringing Liverpool back to glory with back to back Champions League wins and 2 of the last 3 EPL championships. Took Blackpool to the premier league in first year and finished 8th in the premier league their first year in the premier. High Possession, goal scoring spread out evenly and at times leaky defense. Training focuses: Balanced with 2 days of match prep, Match prep: Attack Movement (or Defensive positioning if your team is stuggling defensively) Tried this formation a couple times at lower tiers not enough quality passing at the lower levels to see the full benefits of this tactic but can still do it with the right players.

@AgentFoxMulder in the early stages of this formation when i was developing this tactic i went with the lower tempo i saw much higher possession stats but not enough chances being created. i was seeing teams get dominated in possession but with the slow tempo my full backs were getting caught on the break so i decided to up the tempo and tried to make my team 1-2 the ball quickly up the pitch. that was my thought process behind the high tempo / short passing and remember the truth is out there.

I'm curious why you went for shorter passing with higher tempo. Usually I think of direct pass/high tempo or short pass/low tempo. Why mix the two?

It works great on counter attack with better teams seems more positive with the right players and yes it works on the lastest .
won the prem , league cup , charity sheild , up to now , (6 round fa cup knocked due to loss of form of players all same season just after i won the league cup ) in the champions league second knock out still and for finishing prem just need 19 points to get prem for second runon top of prem for all season as well , so i guess that is pretty good , looking at that system the better playes you get and coaches to work with them you can build around it works great on rotation in the UK
