Chessie System GP38 Pack

Description
(Requires ABStudios' American Freight Expansion pack).

This pack includes six EMD GP38 locomotives in the classic Chessie System livery, one of them being the preserved 3802. Four of the engines have B&O markings while 3868 and 3890 have C&O markings. I was planning to add a fictional name to 3820 ~ 'Moonlight Feels Right' ~ but stupidly forgot to do so as I was busy with loads of other things today.

(Be sure to check out my YouTube channel ~ also called 'The Trainspotter from Tauranga' ~ where I will soon be uploading a video of these GP38s in action).

The Chessie System (or ‘Cheesy System’, as I used to think it was called) was a holding company that operated the Baltimore & Ohio, Chesapeake & Ohio and Western Maryland Railroads (amongst other carriers).

Although the company was incorporated in 1973, the Chesapeake & Ohio had been known as the ‘Chessie System’ since the 1930s. The railroad was ~ and still is ~ the stuff of legends for its logo, which featured the silhouette of a kitten sleeping.

In 1980, Chessie merged with the Seaboard Coast Line to create CSX Transportation, but it wasn’t until 1986 when CSX introduced their branding and liveries onto the locomotives and wagons.

One of the many locomotive types that fell under the Chessie banner was the EMD GP38. At least 100 of them were built in 1967, with another 30 being added to the fleet in 1970. If my research is correct, this is what happened to each of the six engines in this pack after the Chessie System was rebranded as CSX:

3802 ~ renumbered to CSX 2002, later M.O.W. 9699 and painted orange. Now preserved in Chessie colours at the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum.

3820 ~ renumbered to CSX 2020, later rebuilt as a GP38-3 and still in service today.

3840 ~ renumbered to CSX 2040, eventually sold to Locomotive Leasing Partners and later GATX Rail Locomotive Group. She has since returned to CSX and been rebuilt as a GP38-3.

3868 ~ renumbered to CSX 2068. Now serving with the Carolina Coastal Railway Incorporated.

3890 ~ renumbered to CSX 2090. Now owned by the Connecticut Department of Transportation, as CDOT 6697.

4801 ~ renumbered to CSX 2101, and later sold as a lease unit to Helm Financial Corporation. She’s now owned by the GATX Rail Locomotive Group.

(Please DO NOT submit anymore re-skin requests until further notice. I've got a huge list of requests to get through, and I would feel very overloaded if any more got added to the list).
