Description
The avians have constructed a new weapon built specifically for our intergalactic bounty hunter.

The Arm Cannon

This custom-built Arm Cannon is fully modular, allowing for beam upgrades to be crafted at an anvil and inserted to power up its shot with various abilities, such as being able to phase through walls or enemies, or to even freeze enemies within place. Various combinations of beams can be toggled for complete customization.

In addition to this, it has the capability to fire missiles, if the proper module is installed. Further upgrades for missiles can be crafted from anvil and slotted into the weapon, up to a total of 4 different missile types.

How to obtain

The arm cannon is obtained from the Erchius Horror in the Erchius Mining Facility mission. It has a 100% chance to drop. Each beam and missile upgrade can be crafted at various tiers of the anvil, as well as with the late-game addons for the anvil (Seperator, accelerator, manipulator).

How to use

Left click shoots the normal shot, right click shoots a missile. Both can be charged, if you have the correct upgrades inserted.

Holding shift and left clicking brings up the beam customization/unlock menu, right click brings up the missile menu. Insert the beam/missile you crafted into the proper slot, and for the beams use the checkbox to toggle them on and off.

Incompatible mods

Any mods that change the Erchius Horror's loot drops, such as Frackin' Universe, will prevent the Arm Cannon dropping from it. You just need to spawn it in with the id 'samusarmcannon'. Every other aspect of the mod works fine with FU though.

For crew customization+, you cannot make crew members use the arm cannon as a weapon, unfortunately.

Other than that, it should be compatible with most other mods.

Any plans for future mods?

I'll be working on another Startroid mod, not sure which one yet!

answered my own question, it does. VERY disappointed that wave beam doesn't make the projectile wave around. that sort of motion would make the dead zone area between the plasma beam shots a lot less of an issue. also, should absolutely have a way to enable Murder Beam (all beams, including plasma and spazer, active at once). firing the Murder Beam just crashes Super Metroid, so should do the same here.

will this mod conflict with a mod that guarantees that bosses drop their unique weapon and trophy?

Somehow the fix for the weapon model has to be edited in the weapon.lua - i'm not knowledgeable myself to modding this game sadly so if either the author of both mods can find a way to fix that or someone to make a third patch for either i hope this helps as a reminder of where the poetential issue BBAPepsiMann is as a fresh reminder.

I have this issue too. Fresh install on a new hard drive, the only mod added just to check and I'm holding the cannon. I found the files and an unpack tutorial but I don't really know what to look for here. Any help would be appreciated, other than this visual bug I really like this mod

redownloaded and unpacked the mod. i see no "handGrip" in the current iteration of the active item. i can only assume this is because you kept an old version of the file and somehow accidentally used it for the update instead of the most recent version.
