Description


CONTENT
The Restored Origins mod restores three cut origins into the game. This is my first Stellaris mod so the changes aren't anything on the level of, say, Forgotten Queens (great mod, definitely subscribe to it!) but I do think that it keeps the flavor of the Vanilla origins and is something for that millionth playthrough.


COVERT ACTION
An empire that specializes in espionage, the Covert Action origin gives you a head start on the other empires and by allowing you to start the game with a boost to operations and code-breaking.

FEATURES:
- Start the game with the Subterfuge tradition tree unlocked. You also get the Operational Security tradition.
- Admirals are granted a unique trait that gives bonuses to speed and hyperlane detection



ELDEST SIBLING
Your home planet was home to many different advanced species, for unknown reasons, these species left the world and colonized other planets within the solar system... well at least according to the legends.

FEATURES:
- Two other planets in your home system are colonized by primitive species but you do not have any guaranteed habitable worlds.



SHROUD TOUCHED
A spiritualist empire type that specializes in psionics and unity production, the Shroud Touched origin allows your empire to have an immortal ruler by starting the game with the Chosen One perk.

FEATURES:
- Ruler has Chosen One trait and is Psionic at the start of the game
- Your species has the Shroud Touched trait
- Scientists start the game with Expertise: Psionics



PLANNED FEATURES
COVERT ACTION
- Add in feature where you know of your closest neighbor's location and have intel on them
- Event chain to add flavor


ELDEST SIBLING
- It would be nice to figure out a way to make the two primitive species spawn in with the same portrait as your empire species, but I have thus far been unsuccessful in implementing this. Also comment if you think this is a good idea or if the species should stay randomized
- Add event chain for flavor


SHROUD TOUCHED
- Add specific event to add research progress to Psionic Theory sometime in the early game, but not to be unbalanced.
- Add event chain for flavor


MISCELLANEOUS
- Possibly release origins separately so that you don't have to download all three if you don't want to, if people are interested.



COMPATIBILITY
This mod will most likely conflict with mods that add in SAME-NAMED origins, I have not tested with mods that would add in another Shroud Touched origin, but I can't imagine the game would react very well.


CHANGE LOG
10/06/2021
- Added in the "Eldest Sibling" origin
- Removed leftover pc_shrouded_habitable files, so now empires will not spawn with worlds named "pc_shrouded_habitable"
- Stopped "Stealth Expert Admirals" from randomly spawning in non-Covert Action empires

This is in my must have mods now as it is a very vanilla mod so thanks for that, a suggestion for the eldest sibling is to keep it random but it may be nice to make them have similar ethics/traits to your home species so you dont colonize a planet full of pops that hate your government. But this is a great mod keep it up! :steamhappy:

These look great. Suggestion tho, as the MODJam origins mod is not being updated anytime soon could you perhaps take a look at the Stellar Pioneers origin and see if it could be updated for 3.12? thanks!

@Mr. Newb McMuffin I appreciate that! I'm kind of a newb at modding in general, but Paradox really made Stellaris beginner-friendly by being able to access the game code.

@cybrxkhan Thank you, when working on the mod I was going to implement the pc_shrouded_habitable in the Shroud Touched origin but I ended up scrapping the feature, I must have left the code in the file so when I update the mod I will definitely get rid of that. Thanks!

Hey there, just found a potential bug. It appears that some randomly generated empires are spawning with "pc_shrouded_habitable" as their homeworld planet class and planet preference type, and it doesn't appear to display the planet view correctly - see linked images below for examples. I was able to reproduce this with only your mod running, so it doesn't seem to be caused by incompatibilities with other mods.

I looked into it a bit, and while I'm not too good with Stellaris code, it appears that "pc_shrouded_habitable" only appears in common/planet_classes/habitable_shrouded.txt and nowhere else in your mod, and habitable shroud worlds aren't mentioned in your mod features anyways, so I was wondering if it was something you accidentally left in?
