Description
About a year ago, I started making a game called "Ghost." It is a puzzle game where you have a laser that can only shoot up, so you have to reflect it off of a mirror to press the right buttons. There are also two different types of teleporters as well as a green zone that rotates the mirror. The game functions, but I am still adding levels as there are only 6 as of publishing this character. Around the same time that I started making the game, I made a rivals character of the same name, with 20 jumps, a broken up air, and most importantly, an up special that resembles the laser from the game (but is very broken). The character is fun, but it's Ronald type fun (also my friend made a character around the same time called blob, and ghost and blob are fun to play against each other). A year later, I decided I would learn how to make a good rivals character (more specifically I wanted to make the mirror function as a spatial resource), so I did, and here is the result. A lot of their moves are similar ideas to the original that I made a year ago, but toned down/balanced (such as uspecial or bair). I am excited to eventually publish the puzzle game I mentioned a million years ago, and if you for some reason read all of this, maybe you should play it (it will be on pico-8).

But you don't care about any of that. You care about the moveset:

-Crouching, rolling, wavedashing, and all 3 "down" moves give you invisibility (because ghosts).

-Up tilt and nspecial spawn the two types of teleporters from the game. Up tilt's version hits opponents that touch it upwards, while nspecial teleports you to it if you hit it with laser

-Up B is a laser that can kill opponents off the top, and can interact with nspecial and fspecial

-Fspecial spawns a mirror that can reflect your laser left or right.

-Dspecial prevents you from doing anything for about 6 seconds during which you are invisible. At the end of the 6 seconds you heal.

I do have one suggestion, its a bit hard to tell which direction your facing, especially when you arent moving.

Also, I forgot about my original comment, thank you so much for taking my original comment about the character into consideration. I'll admit I don't know a whole lot about this game, and all of the stuff I listed off was off the top of my head, and the things towards the end weren't reflective of the characters purpose and inspiration, which I honestly should have payed more attention to. As of right now I say it feels great to play after some time learning!

Honestly, this is a pretty cool character. The down air makes for a good combo tool, and at higher percents a easy win if you can hit the opponents with the laser afterwards. F-tilt makes for a nice get-off-me tool, and I'n sure if your good enough it can combo loosely. (I'm not good at this game lol) I don't have any problems with the moveset as it seems fairly balanced. If you ever update this character, I think you should add abyss runes. Things like extra/higher jumps, more mirrors, etc, could be really cool to mess around with. Overall, I really like this!:steamthumbsup:

INDUSTRIAL SOCIETY AND ITS FUTURE
Introduction

1. The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race. They have greatly increased the life-expectancy of those of us who live in “advanced” countries, but they have destabilized society, have made life unfulfilling, have subjected human beings to indignities, have led to widespread psychological suffering (in the Third World to physical suffering as well) and have inflicted severe damage on the natural world. The continued development of technology will worsen the situation. It will certainly subject human beings to greater indignities and inflict greater damage on the natural world, it will probably lead to greater social disruption and psychological suffering, and it may lead to increased physical suffering even in “advanced” countries.

Changes v1:
I changed it a while ago but I only uploaded them now. Here is what I remember:
-Run speed increased
-Nspecial and Fspecial are twice as fast
-Dspecial is now a landing option, it makes you completely invisible for a couple seconds and greatly increases your air speed and acceleration while you are invisible. Use it after teleporting to your nspecial
-Probably some other stuff that I forgot idk

The original broken version (with ms paint sprites and bad coding, if you can even call it that) is called "ghost (original)." As for your suggestions, I will try to implement them at some point as I assume you (blaine.dooley07) know more about this game than me. My main goal with this character was mostly to make the mirror and teleporter work and interact with each other with balance/good art/fun character coming second. Now that the character does function however, I will try to make them more fun/less underpowered using the suggestions you have given me (as well as the ones anybody else might give me in the future).
