--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A follow-on design from the widely successful I-22 series, the Muravey began life as a simple space superiority fighter which reused a large portion of the Termit's design. The most noteworthy changes were the lengthened nose section, housing a newer radar better suited for tracking multiple targets simultaneously; a lighter armament of only one 25mm gatling gun rather than a pair of 30mm guns; a revised wing design; and most noticeably, a revised propulsion system, giving the Muravey much better flight characteristics at the expense of the Termit's phenomenal acceleration.

With the acceptance of the Series 12 design into service in 2064, the Muravey rapidly made a name for itself as a superb fighter capable of taking on any counterpart without reserve. With its design lineage, a powerplant upgrade was all but inevitable; this first led to the Muravey-R unarmed reconnaissance craft with a powerful "Oka" search radar, then to the dedicated search-and-rescue scout Muravey-S (often painted in high-visibility colours to distinguish it from the armed or recce variants), and finally in 2071 to the Muravey-PM interceptor, intended to complement the more powerfully armed and faster but less agile Termit-P and PB variants.

The most recent addition to the Muravey family is the I-24PU variant, unveiled in 2075 and accepted into service in the closing weeks of 2076. It has yet to reach squadrons in any noteworthy numbers.

Full Review at The Fighter Review: Issue 5

Aesthetics: ★★★★★

The Muravey has to be one of the best-looking ships I've seen to date. Aesthetically, it's got it all together - clean lines on the wings and fuselage that give it a unique and pleasing shape, combined with liveries that take full advantage of said design to give each ship a striking appearance...

Systems: ★★★☆☆

Where the Muravey suffers slightly is the design of its internals. The ship handles splendidly, maintaining excellent thruster balance, and its single large reactor insures plenty of power. However, access to those internals is split between two ejectors...

Armament: ★★★☆☆

For armament, the Muravey sports a single gatling cannon and four rocket launchers, which give it a fearsome punch against large ships. However, the lack of cannons could leave it at a disadvantage...

Overall: out 3.6 of 5 ★.
