SECONDLY ENSURE THAT THE CLIMATE IS SET TO ALPINE - 1700M

A second, arguably better version, of the Flathead Mountains map I had made recently. With much help from lskeetskeet, a talented guy who has a keen eye for terrain and realism. The mountains overall had gotten a large overhaul and parts of the terrain had been adjusted to give it the much needed looks of the area I been trying to capture.

Keep note: This improved version might be a lot heavier on your PC If you can't handle it I advise using the previous version as it is the same map just less trees and terrain details. Link here

Still based on a rocky mountain range around northern Montana and Idaho, this map is fictional based 90% on terrain maps. Industries are no longer spread far apart from one another and cross mountain freight has been specifically tailored to have equal shipping in both directions. Have fun running long freight over the mountain, this time there's no river valley to help you. You're royally stuck in one place till you can get enough money to cross the treacherous mountain terrain.

Tallest peak is 2300m. You'll be twisting and turning around the mountain ridges to gain and lose altitude and to find the fastest way over so your freight breaks even over the longer term.

Same rule applies since the last map, you'll be having fun running trains up to 2km long at least and try to carry as much as you can and supply as best as you can. I will however not starve you of industry opportunity, you will have some basic industry on either side of the map to help you start off. Good luck!

Once again, thank you lskeetskeet for contributing so much time into this map. This is officially the final version of this map and I may make some smaller improvements if need be but as for major iterations this is the last.

Known issues and solutions

Some people have reported issues regarding mods that are missing, it is due to Workshop issues that don't allow me to add it to the required items. Here is a guide to fix this: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2631852979

I really like this map. It's extremely well done.

This may seem like a bit of a strange question but, what do you believe would the optimal track placement so that's not just tunnels everywhere?

Yeah it's not an issue of me being able to run it or not, I just have other mods that are sort of like parallels to some of these and I'd rather use the ones I'm used to. For example, rather than using Production X2, I prefer a mod that doubles the POTENTIAL output of the industries, so end result is the same, but gameplay wise I have to work up to it. Just stuff like that that's not a big deal but it would just be nice to customize it to my personal modslist so I'm not messing around with basically 2 identical but different modsets lol. If you could give me a brief rundown of how to remove some myself or link to me such rundown that'd be appreciated, but if not I understand.

@TheViper492 I appreciate the feedback. I'd like to say that some of these mods were hand picked by me and are essential in my eyes, could it be slimmed down? Absolutely, however as it is a very hefty map with fairly high tree density, it became a point of "If you can run this you probably can run this too."

Also it's been a while since I opened TPF2 as I am occupied with more important life things. Perhaps in the future I'll consider reducing the mods or make a lighter version, however I have washed my hands of this project and I'm more inclined to make something new as this map has been almost literally months in the making hence why this is the final version.

I will say, I will not stop you from modifying the map in the editor and slashing off the mods yourself, just don't reupload it as this involves work from another person and I wish to respect their potential wishes of keeping this exclusive.

Modelling North Idaho is such a bitch... Tried to do the area between Spokanistan and Avery, and the difference in altitude is so great that I couldn't fix it no matter what I did with Gimp or whatever I used... I just wanted some local infrastructure and some steamboat traffic on Coeur d'Alene. For those who don't know Spokane is lower than Cd'A, so since curvature or altitude isn't modeled in the game heightmaps just wind up entirely flooded. Historically though, this is accurate, which is why the Spokane Valley region wound up with kind of sandy, silty soil. Used to be tons of orchards out there. Now it's houses.

@wabbithunta you are completely correct. I removed it, I had accidentally added it when trying to fix adding TFUR for a previous version of the map. Thank you for pointing that out

This shows that I need another map to play yours, as you have this one ["Open Range"] on your list of required mods. Surely not?

I been trying to add TFUR to the required items, but due to a bug, the WS doesn't allow me to add them. I have removed TFUR in an update. Some of you may have issues with an older version, refer to the "Known issues and solutions"

@Chew Big Red Texas please go to the map selection and check the modlist below. Tell me which ones you are missing.
