I have mixed feelings regarding repacking sometimes its convenient when updates are made, but i have been im more situations where updates break my live server

So its important to test a mod first before it goes into production

But with that said its best to respect the Mod owners wishes. Great mod

yes I am intending to create the building scripts for these as well

That's not why I came here though, lol. I need a buildable treehouse on my server, any chance you will make that feature for this house any time soon? Thanks

Personally, installing each mod separately gives me much more control of the servers overall health and it makes troubleshooting so much easier. I have also come across some mentions that repacks don't really provide any form of performance benefits for your server.

But I think this is why they repack:
A serverpack, containing maybe tens or hundreds of separate mods, will of course make the installation process for the players much easier since they only need to download and install a single large mod instead of all the separate mods. At the same time, when using a serverpack, the server owner can decide themselves when and how often they want to update the mods within the serverpack, completely untied from the original mods update releases. It saves time and effort for the server owners, and possibly some server downtime for players, but at the same time it may lower quality. I don't think they are doing anyone any favors other then the owner/admin themselves.

When someone repacks a mod, even with credit, it fragments the ecosystem. Players don’t always know which version is which, support requests go to the wrong person, and I end up spending time chasing issues caused by a version I never touched. That’s time I could’ve spent improving the actual mod.

I get where you’re coming from, and I agree that repacking can definitely lead to confusion or support issues when not handled properly. But from my point of view, if someone chooses to repack a mod, they also take on the full responsibility of keeping it updated and making sure it works — including dealing with any bugs or confusion that arise from it.

As for permission, I believe it only becomes necessary if the original creator specifically requests it. Otherwise, using or modifying mods — especially non-commercially and with proper credit — is pretty common practice in the community. To me, it’s more about respecting the creator's wishes when they’re clearly stated, not about asking for approval in every case.

That said, I fully appreciate the work that goes into making and maintaining mods. I’m not trying to change your view — just sharing how I see it based on experience. These kinds of conversations are important, and I respect both sides of it.

Hey @Dizzle, appreciate you sharing your view.

The issue with repacking isn’t just about linking back or giving credit. When people repack and upload mods without permission, it fragments the modding community, causes update issues, and often leads to support problems. Players don’t know which version is current, and creators get flooded with bug reports from someone else’s broken repack.

It’s not about gatekeeping—it’s about respecting the effort that goes into creating and maintaining this content. If someone wants to use a mod, linking to the original is the right way. If they want to customize it, they should get permission, or better yet, contribute through patches or extensions.

Thanks again for weighing in—this kind of discussion helps clarify things for everyone.

honestly i dont get all the drama on Repacking as long as you provide a link in your mod packs discription refering to the original mod Creator. its the same as HAving in installed as a seperate mod. REpacking whitout gvingin Proper credits is thats just sad.

Oh I see now. Basically theft. What bugs me, is I see server packs with mods, that have no repack in their descriptions, and I just can't. I've noticed in this community in my short time of returning; that people have just done a lot of stealing of content :(

its akin to re-packing stock from a shop into your pockets
the issue is that people would rather take all someones hard work and take it without any of the hard work it takes to produce items.
