Description
This mod brings in a new series of custom classes to Illwinter's world of Elysium, starting with (my interpretation of) the Tyrants of the Nine Hells - the Baatezu Devils!

Faction Overview
Masters of corruption and architects of conquest, the Baatezu seek both to tempt mortal life to join in their pursuit of all things profane and to spread tyranny throughout all worlds. Every devil has a specific role to play in the upkeep of the remorseless bureaucratic machine that is Hell, from soldiers and sages to inquisitors, judges, and executioners. Lowly Lemures and Spinagon perform subservient labor to more powerful and specialized devils, such as Osyluths and Erinyes, while the greatest Pit Fiends command entire infernal armies.

Each "layer" of the Nine Hells is ruled with an iron fist by an Archduke (or Duchess) - practically demigods in their own right. When not scheming amongst themselves, the Archdukes of Hell are plotting strategies and machinations to employ in the Blood War, the unending, genocidal conflict between the lawful Baatezu and the chaotic Tanar'ri that will conclusively determine which is the Ultimate of Evils.

Baatezu Features
  • The mortal allies (some would say "pawns") of the Baatezu tend to be heavily armed and armored, but slow. Aside from human recruits, the Baatezu player also has access to Hobgoblins of Acheron, Duergar ("deep-dwarves"), Tiefling Mercenaries and Mercykiller Manhunters.
  • Clerics of the Nine Hells have access to multiple paths of magic (although they will only cast one spell at a time). Be aware that some Clerics hate others who are subserviant to rival Archdukes.
  • Devilbinders and Lightbringers can summon Baatezu devils through the use of gem-expending rituals (currently,
    Rubies and Diamonds).
  • The lesser Baatezu devils always obey their summoners, as subserviance is ingrained into their very being.
  • Baatezu, in general, lack the raw physical power of the Demons and Devils of Inferno, but make up for it in special abilities, elemental resistances and unique attacks. All Baatezu are immune to Fire and Poison, and highly resistant to Cold-based attacks. They are also immune to Disease and Decay (being immortal creatures).
  • Greater Baatezu can lead armies and plane-shift (to Inferno). They are also immune to the draining effects of Hades.

    Known Issues / Upcoming Features
    Some sprites are unfinished or missing.
    Stats and resource costs will need refinement for balance.
    Some features are not yet implemented - additional clerics of other Archdukes (currently, only the Cleric of Mephisto is in-game).

    Thank you for visiting; feedback and comments are always welcome! And stay tuned for additional custom classes in the series!

Good mod, need to add gem conversion and or a use for water/earth gems. Some rituals for the greater baatezu would be nice, maybe special rituals in inferno, etc. Early game is quite difficult without a good map for fire gems. I see you've paused development of the mod, but I encourage you to keep up the good work.

Loving it so far! It does upset me that there´s no use for emeralds and sapphires, I swear the game spawns extra many just to spite me, but I understand that´s in the works,
also, I´d love more advanced versions of the Hellfire Cleric and your base ritualists.

Otherwise brilliant!
The sprites are expertly done and the balance seems to be just right!

@TroupeMastarSilas:
I'll admit, I'm not very familiar with the lore of the Far Realm, the Kaorti or the Uvuudaum - I never personally found much use for it in my table-top games (although I can see the appeal of Cthulu-esque horrors for some D&D groups).

That said, I *have* been dabbling with the idea of eventually creating a "Servants of the God-Brain" class with Illithids, Aboleths, Intellect-Devourers, Eaters-of-Knowledge, and other squishy-spooky abominations. >:)

Do you have plans to cover the Far Realm? or are you just gonna deal in the main planes, I think it'd be cool to see some factions based on the Slaadi or the Modrons.

@Dr. Uncredible:
Would love to hear what you think! I'll also be uploading a custom faction based off the Eladrin within the next day or two, and the Tanar'ri some time after that. :)

Looks promising! Will try out!
