STAG - Self Targeting Artillery Gun [WEAPONS DLC][Ballistics Computer]

Description
MAIN

Why put you and your machine in the direct line of sight of the enemy? Why waste shells trying to find the range of your target? With the STAG VIII ballistic computing system, there’s no need for these wasteful exercises!

The Self Targeting Artillery Gun mk 8 (STAG VIII) is a ballistic computer gun platform. Since the weapons update was released, we wanted an easy and capable artillery distance and trajectory calculator.

The STAG VIII is currently mounted with the Big Bertha Cannon, but its intended function is to find the firing azimuth and elevation angles given the characteristics of any gun mounted. As long as you give it the exit velocity of the projectile, the computer and automated aiming system will do the rest.

This project was made to be an integrated system of all the best modules out there as of now, combined to form a complete system. Finally, the STAG VIII enables all players to simply set map coordinates and fire!

Lastly, we added a Lunar Wane-Shaft TM to effectively eliminate side-fumbling (a massive problem in our competitor’s products).

OBJECTIVES
● Update the livery
● Redesign the control panel (make it into booth)
● Simplify the control panel
● Implement a TAR (Target Acquisition Radar)
● Make the TAR capable of leading targets
● Make more art of the STAG
● Make a collection of the STAG with different guns on it
● Make a demo version of the stag on an air vehicle, land vehicle, sea vehicle, and submersible
● World peace
(Anything not on this list that should probably be is likely to be on a separate list which we have not disclosed because surprises are cool)

INTERFACE
The entire unit is operated by one computer on the left side of the platform. All instruments are color coded and Labeled.

● RED is for the manual gun controls
● BLUE is for the camera controls
● PINK is for the ballistics computer
● ORANGE is for the radio targeting operation (not required for functioning)

USAGE
The STAG Mk 8 operates on coordinates, so the first thing required is to get coordinates. However if that is not feasible, you can use the radio targeting system to acquire coordinates from a radio signal. More on that later.

Once you have your coordinates, all that you need to do is feed that into the keypad and you’re good to go. Although, if you wish to refine your shot, i. e. the target is higher or lower than the gun, then you can offset the height of the target using the lever on the left side titled “Tilt.”

Once you’re at this point, it is recommended that you switch the video feed to the gun’s crosshair-view camera by pressing the “Switch Video Feed” button.

If the target is in direct view from the gun, another option is to aim the gun via the coordinates, then get a more accurate range from the rangefinder. To use the rangefinder instead of GPS coordinates, press the “Use Laser Rangefinder” button located on the center console.

Sometimes it may be necessary to aim a bit higher or lower than your target and in that case you must disable “use laser rangefinder” because the rangefinder aims directly to where the gun is aiming.

The next step is to press the fire button once you’re ready for the gun to fire. It may be left on and the gun will continue firing due to the autoloader.

USING THE TAR
The TAR (Target Acquisition Radar) is a system designed to obtain coordinates of a hostile, as long as they are in firing range. This is a system we hope to develop in the future. This version serves as a placeholder for now (This is not fully determined though by the build team). The way the tar works is once you enable the yellow “Activate Search Radar'' button, the search radar dish will begin to rotate. Then on the map, targets identified by the TAR will begin to show up titled by their ID number. The ID number is unique to each vehicle on the screen and is used to help categorize which target you wish to aim at. Once you know which target you wish to fire upon, use the screen on the left of the map to select the same ID as the target which you have chosen. Then, select TR2 to enable the tracking radar. You will then notice the selected target light up red. The TR2 button enables a radar that will keep the target in view and will only lose the target if it gets obstructed or exits the maximum range of the STAG. If you wish to deselect a target, just click on it on the target list and select “stop track”. Now to use the TAR as a feed for the coordinates to feed into the STAG, select the green “Target Acquisition Radar” toggleable button. The TAR is not very accurate in certain circumstances and we intend to improve the system in the future.

SPECIFICATIONS
● The gun has a maximum range of 4,000 meters. It cannot go farther due to the round despawning past that distance.
● The gun has a Round per Minute fire-rate of 3.14.
● The Radio Tracking system receives the X coordinate on channel 1 and the Y coordinate on channel 2.

INTEGRATION
This model of the STAG is made specifically so you can disassemble it and rebuild it in whatever way you would like, or use it on its own. Simply detach the Velocity Pivot connecting the STAG from the base and place the turret wherever you would like. The other parts can also be cut and pasted to be located wherever you would like as long as the wiring stays the same and the STAG turret and TAR radar has enough space to rotate fully and without obstruction.

WORKSHOP CREDITS
Projects utilized:
Auto Azimuth test by Nuclear
This was used on the base of the weapon for aiming the weapon towards the right coordinates

Ballistic Calculator Sample by Shairo-jp and ARCBIRD2
We substantially modified this creation to calculate the gun’s elevation and shell trajectory according to the coordinates fed into the system.

Auto Loader by Todagamler
We made a modified version of this microcontroller that is utilized for keeping the gun firing so the operator can concentrate more on aiming the weapon.

Coordinate Integrator [Modular Radar System] by FN-20
This system is used as the TAR. We chose this over other options because while it did lack some ability in certain circumstances to get an accurate lock, its UI is much more user friendly. Additionally, it is very customizable, which is a great plus because this allowed us to easily make it conform to the capabilities of the STAG.

If you believe that you are the creator of something used within the creation of the STAG, please let me know in the comments and I will review your comment and see if I can add you to the list.

LEGAL
As mentioned in the integration panel, this version of the STAG is made so you can add it to your own builds. So feel free to use it on one of your vehicles, as long as credit is given to me and there is either a link to this workshop item or the full name is copied and pasted in.

When was the last time this was updated? LOL.
It still uses deprecated radars.

Reading the description made me think this was an ongoing community effort. It's abandonware.
