Caverns of Doom (Heritage Games Paint and Play)

Description
In the olden days, Heritage Games made a couple of Paint & Play sets, Caverns of Doom and Crypts of the Sorcerer. These playsets were basically a very simple version of Dungeons and Dragons, often serving as a gateway into the AD&D universe. The game was well-suited for solitaire play. It had some possibility of extended campaigns but really was intended to be a quick play-through miniatures skirmish. While not particularly complex or ground-breaking, it held a very special place in my heart - Caverns of Doom was literally the first miniatures I ever owned, lovingly hand-painted by my Aunt, who passed from COVID recently (I have zero artistic talent so painting wasn't in the cards for 12 year old me).

This is my attempt to update Caverns of Doom. In this release, you will find the original rules and maps for both CoD and CotS, as well as 3-d map versions and miniatures. Some of the miniatures (mostly the PCs) are from me courtesy of HeroForge; other monsters were assembled from throughout the workshop (apologies for not knowing from where - if you see your work, please let me know so I can credit you properly!). These sets are supplemented by two unofficial fan expansions I've created, Mines of Misery and Lair of the Lich. You also get my Arena of Glory set for gladiator games to entertain you between dungeon crawls, including rules for all out rebellion against the King by the Gladiators. All of this is contained on a huge flex table courtesy of Mr. Stump. It's an intense download with the map pieces and particle effects, but hopefully you'll find it worth it. The load times will be much faster the second time, once you have local cache files (mine loads in about 15 seconds).

For maximum effect, consider cranking the lighting down extra low, especially if you're taking the Dwarf with his torch providing light.

Enjoy!

Please note this update WILL OVERWRITE your subscription copy (but not any local copy you've saved) so if you absolutely must have the originally chosen figures, unsubscribe before you let this mod update itself.

So after my laptop died, I got the same errors as DrGNOLA reported. Apparently some other folks killed their cloud versions on their HF figures. I've replaced the Cultists and Orcs with reasonably close if not perfect choices from the original cultist and orc packs (i.e., they're the same but i might have inverted a couple of choices). That fixed most of the errors but I still had to pick new figures for the Sorcerer in COTS, and for the Phantom in Arena of Glory. You're of course welcome to point the figure with statistics at a different figure of your choice, particularly given that I've freely mixed in non-HF for this mod. But at least it should work again for anyone discovering it newly.

If anyone has the original figures and can provide me a description of what should be changed back, including your locally cached files to make that work, I'm all ears.

Best guess, they are figures that I got from the workshop that the original poster took down, and it's not registering as missing on my end since my game has made local copies in the meantime. If you can figure out how to tell me which ones they are, I can replace them with versions from my cloud (I think...)

Are you able to see a name or a location or something like that for the missing 9 assets?

I seem to be unable to download 9 assets, mostly (orc) figurines. Any idea what might be up? I guess I could just find some in the workshop, but I'd miss the info stats on the figurines as the others have? any ideas?
