Ponderosa-Class Battleship

Description
A successor to the renowned Morningstar-Class Battleship, the Ponderosa-Class is a 538 meter long, million ton armored behemoth. She is built around the deployment of the 7mm "Thunderbolt" railgun, a 460MW railgun that fires a 40 gram tungsten slug at 9.2km/s. These are backed up by a 40MW, 5mm railgun with a similar velocity but with a much lower projectile mass, and a collection of other kinetic weapons. An array of 12 120MW lasers provides point defense and precision fire, while long range strike capability is provided by 2 launchers of the "Aurora" 5MT nuclear missile, with a magazine capacity of 60 such missiles stored near the bow. The available weapons exceed total power budget by design, as scouring of weapons by incoming fire can quickly deplete available turrets.

The power requirements and massive engines necessitate a large crew complement, which are housed in three clusters of crew compartments in the core of the ship. Armored methane tanks and bulkheads provide additional protection past the main armored hull. Power systems consist of three independent groups to ensure survivability, with most of the reactors situated aft in a main compartment of 24 141MW reactors, with an additional 6 60MW reactors in a forward compartment running on an independent coolant loop. A further 8 105KW RTGs provide emergency backup power to maintain life support and maneuvering power in case the main reactors are shut down or disabled. Total power budget available is over 3GW.

The ship is designed to fight bow-in to maximize the effectiveness of her conical armor layout. It is also recommended that the methane drop tanks are jettisoned in combat, as the explosive bolts can damage the ship if detonated in an uncontrolled manner. She's liable to turn your game in to a slide show when firing, and probably not for the faint of CPU, but Ponderosa is a massively powerful and durable ship in combat.
