Description
***Lots of deprecated and old mods in the collection, I've been trying to update everything to get this save working again, but not having any success. Please take caution when subscribing.

Welcome to The Boston Project!

This was a project I started at the beginning of quarantine where I have been walking around the city of Boston and attempting to make it in Cities Skylines. This map primarily includes downtown Boston, reaching out as far as Melnea Cass Boulevard. All roads were hand placed and should be reflective of the real streets they are based on.

I added as many MBTA routes as I could, with most bus, subway, and commuter rail stops in the downtown area included. The North End, Financial District, West End, Beacon Hill, Back Bay, Fenway, South End, Seaport, and South Boston neighborhoods are all built up. As much as I would love to continue this project, this unfortunately is as much as I can add to this map for the foreseeable future. My hope is that those of you that subscribe can add to this map and build areas which I may not have been able to reach.

Notes for running the map properly:

1) Make sure to subscribe and turn on all mods before loading the save. You’ll have to restart CS before you head in to the save game. Here is the asset and mod collection: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2196596586

2) (optional) My Visual Settings are here:
Global Light Intensity: 5.3625
Ambient Light Intensity: 0.7360001
Relight3Soft
Theme: Autumn Theme

3) (optional) In the plop the growables mod, turn off building level ups. Otherwise, when you start the game, it will drastically increase the population from the 107k it is right now, and will make the map significantly harder to run.

4) (optional) To run the red line trains which Nitehawk made, you will need to make the following quick edit:
Go to:
%LocalAppData%\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\TrainConverter-Config.xml
Open the file in notepad, and then in the underground trains to metro tab, type:
<items description="Boston Red Line - Bombardier" workshop-id="2224337295"/>
Save it in the same location, and next time you load up your city, you should be able to see it as an option for a metro train.

Thanks for everyone who has supported me on this project, from the asset creators to those who gave constructive feedback on specific areas. If you enjoyed this map, don’t forget to rate it for the workshop!

Has anyone been able to get this to load? I've spent hours only for nothing to happen.

@accassius89 Thanks so much for the tips on loading the save! I know the collection has a lot of broken mods on it, glad to hear it is still salvageable.

You can still get this save to load as of 12.2022.

1. Unsubscribe from all your current assets and mods
2. Open CS to the main menu and then quit
3. Download all the assets and mods from the collection as well as the save game
4. Go to your subscribed items and then click mods. Clean up any outdated mods and download the current version of them (E.G. Network Tiling, Fine Road Tools, and Fine Road Anarchy are replaced by Network Anarchy)
5. Open CS and voila! If you are still having issues with it loading then try to use the Loading Screen Mod's "Try to recover from Simulation Errors" setting and it should load.

I successfully loaded this map but its such a shame that the hard coded building limit has been reached and not much can be added to this beauty.

After much research and wrangling, I finally managed to get this save to load. As a former Boston resident, I am highly impressed with the work you put in to this. I can only imagine how long and painstaking it was to make this and thank you for doing so.

Such a shame I cant run this saved game, I've tried so many ways to get it to work but I am unable. I'm about to run out and plop 2k on a new machine but my wife would hang me if i did that, oh well maybe someday.

@Steve, thanks for the comment. I haven't had a chance in a couple months to test the save out/ clean out old mods so I dont know if anything got broken when the Airports DLC came out
