High Resolution Cubemaps & Shadows

Another map where I showcase the maximum extent of the Source Engine's static lighting system using GMod's 64bit compile tools. Features 256x256 resolution cubemaps and the highest resolution shadows possible without the compile tools throwing errors due to to many vertices.

Compiled for LDR & HDR and retains full functionality as long as you have Half-Life 2 purchased & installed on Steam, and mounted in Garry's Mod.

Map name is d2_coast_05_hrcs, and can be found in the "Half-Life 2" map section.

Progressing backwards upon spawning in will take you to map d2_coast_04_hrcs if you are subscribed to it. Completing the level as you would in Half-Life 2 will take you to map d2_coast_07_hrcs if you are subscribed to it.

Misc info:
  • A sequence involving the gas pumps causing a chain reaction of explosions has been re-enabled
  • A cloud material from the 2003 leak containing an unused shader has been re-enabled
  • Low definition trees have been replaced with their higher definition counterparts
  • Overlays that were originally broken have been repaired
  • Map geometry and entities that were originally excluded for performance reasons have been added back in
  • This map is not from a decompile

I might do Episode 1, i have no intentions of Episode 2, but after all that I might do Team Fortress 2 maps. I've already done 1, ctf_2fort, and uploaded it to the TF2 workshop. Honestly anything that I can get my hands on that I find could look interesting.

just a little question, after finishing the recompiling of every hl2 map what are you planning on recompiling next? if im making any sense
