Metropolitan Ry. No. 72

Description
No. 72 here is a loose representation of the Metropolitan Railway class D, a set of six 2-4-0T's built by Sharp, Stewart & Co. in 1894-95. Numbered 71-76, they were used between Aylesbury, Verney Junction, and Baker Street until the 1920s, when they were withdrawn and scrapped.

The Metropolitan Railway was the world's first underground railway when it opened in 1863. Planned to ease congestion on the busy streets of London, the main line connected Paddington, Euston, and King's Cross with the future Middlesex suburbs. It was folded into the London Passenger Transport Board in 1933, and is one of the earliest ancestors of the London Underground.
