Class description
Destroyers (DD) are a class of smaller to midsize warships, highly specialized into either torpedoboats, for anti-naval and anti-sub warfare, Anti-Air destroyers and Anti-ship destroyers. Usually carrying a comparably large powerplant, they often have LAMS equiped. These ships focus on speed, and are often used for interdicting enemy fleets. Destroyers evolve into cruisers and battlecruisers.

The Ship
Like its smaller brethren Shortsword and Longsword, the Broadsword is a torpedo oriented ASW ship. More so than the Shortsword and Longsword, it focuses exclusively on killing submarines, it being conceived as a cheap warship to counter the high threat submarines of the SS, primarily the Black Current. The Broadsword excels at this task, and can and will dispatch a Black Current if the terms of the engagement are properly controlled. That means; don't brawl.

Like the other ASW oriented ships within Eagle Industries, it has a decent AA suite, but is less suited for direct anti-ship combat. If countering ships, it's best to let this ship be in a supporting role. The armour and active protection are unable to deal with heavy shell fire. Against airships, this vessel is hopelessly outclassed. If however used in its intended role, it will do very well and be a fine addition to any fleet.
