Sundervan-A Tropical Paradise (By Sailesh Patra)

Description
Sundervan, a tropical island in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of India, is an island with beautiful shores, Hi-Tech buildings, advanced research and development centers, flourishing business and a rich history.

The natives of the island defended against the imperialist navy in 1857 in a bloody war, at two fronts, the north and the south coast. While the southern castle was able to thwart the 2nd Imperial fleet, it suffered massive destruction of lives and infrastructure. The valor and courage of the martyred soldiers, fueled the morale of the army who defeated the 1st Imperial fleet(the largest) through the northern castle, in the battle of "The Last Stand". Today, while the southern castle ruins serves as a memorial for all those who laid their lives, the northern castle proudly stands tall among the graveyard of the sunken imperial ships, open to visitors.

The residents of the island, while being proud of their history, have also focused on the future and progress, to convert the island into a technological, commercial and ecological hotspot. Welcomed by the statue of victory, the visitors and residents visit various parts of the island using the robust network of metro.

The island undertakes various R&D in the field of robotics, artificial intelligence and semi-conductor technologies, supported by some of the top-notch IT industries in the world. The education needs for the same are met by "Indian Institute of Technology-Sundervan" and various technological high schools.

Coming to balance between industry and environment, wildlife, the island cherishes the following-

1.Farming, fishing and forestry industry, along with vertical farms and bio-domes setup by the R&D.
2.Commercial and eco-commercial shops.
3.Massive National Park named after famous environmentalist, Jim Corbett (who also protested against having airport on the island), houses elephants, tigers, lions etc (you might spot one).
