Transit Vehicle Spawn Delay 1.3.1

Description


A simple mod to add a configurable delay between transit vehicles spawning from depots, so you don't have 50 buses all rushing out at once to your new routes, clogging up the streets on the way and starting off along the route in a single big bunch.

New in 1.2:
  • Support for blimps and passenger helicopters.
  • A spawning delay countdown timer on depot builidng info panels.

Designed originally for people who aren't using dedicated public tranport management mods such as Improved Public Transport 2 or Transport Lines Manager, but it's also FULLY COMPATIBLE with both of those mods. When using Improved Public Transport, vehicles will spawn at the rate of whichever mod (this or IPT) has the longest delay setting.

Yes, it's fully compatible with TM:PE (also Advanced Vehicle Options and other vehicle mods). No mod incompatibilies are currently known.

Currently supported vehicles are buses, trolleybuses, trams, passenger helicopters, and blimps.

The spawn delay time can be set (in the mod's options panel) independently for each type. Spawn delay time is set relative to simulation time; the sliders will show what the given delay means in in-game time. If you're using the Real Time mod, when in-game (but not in the loading screen) the sliders will show the correct time delay in Real Time rates.

Spawn delay is across all depots of that type (by design), so as to prevent multiple depots all spawning at once and defeating the entire purpose of the delay.

Having an issue with normal busses not spawning (biofuel spawns fine)

No other public transit mods other than one to auto assign names and colors to lines.

@algernon can you tell me if IPT2 and Transit Vehicle Spawn Delay 1.3 can be used together? You state in the description that they are compatible but IPT2 has not yet been updated to the current game version... Any advice? Thanks...

One thing to note that this issue I had seems to only occur on buses, there are no problems with other public transports as far as I can see.

There is some other thing like the lines are occasionally disconnected but I believe that is caused by the game's path unit limits reaching the max value and doesn't have anything to do with bus spawning issue.

I'm testing this with a city of 80K++ population initially because that's where I noticed this bug happening, but then I tried to make a new game and the bus spawning problem still occurs.

@Witchberry IPT2 is indeed a public transport mod, and one that controls bus spawning... which version are you using (Workshop link)?

After the latest update, this mod seems to introduce a bug where the buses sometimes won't spawn at all. I've already checked by waiting the countdown timer on each depot but the buses still won't show up until the timer is reset again. The only way to make the buses spawn is to delete the line, and redraw them all over again, but that is quite a hassle if I had to do that everytime I load my save.

When I unsub this mod everything seems to be fine again. I hope you look into this when you have some spare time, thanks.
