Description
Welcome to OBO, the Overall Balance Overhaul, pronounced "oboe" (yes, like the instrument).

OBO is itself split up into many smaller mods to make finding, using, mixing and matching easier for users, and to make updating them easier on my end. Please read the main collection page for more info, as this description will only cover this submod specifically.

This is the Devastator rebalance mod, which reworks the weapon significantly. Just pull the trigger once and you'll see what I mean (more info below).


RATIONALE:
Another weapon that was more or less fine, but it has the same issue as it's SS3 incarnation. It's a little bit boring. The issue is predictability, as the weapon functions more like a semi-explosive sniper rifle, and I felt like it could be more.

So I turned it into a grenade launcher, and not like the existing Grenade Launcher in SS4. I mean like a modern Milkor M32 MGL. The biggest thing you'll notice when firing this weapon is the projectile falls instead of travelling flat like a rocket, and the impact now has a potent splash, though not as potent as a rocket or actual Grenade Launcher grenade. I've discovered that it is a surprisingly fun little excercise to gauge the distance between you and your foe, finding the correct aim to arc the grenades so they land on target. Where before this weapon was pretty much only useful against slow-moving, large enemies and Technopolyps, it's now much more versatile and actually lives up to its lore name, able to devastate lines of small enemies with sustained fire. I've also nerfed the piercing factor, because it actually harmed the splash damage. It'll still pierce Baby Spiders and enemy projectiles, making it useful against Arachnoids, Scrapjacks, and Red Mechs while they're firing back at you (they can't shoot your projectile down, which they can do with your rockets).

Smaller tweaks include an actually useful zoom, picked up ammo now matches the magazine size, and a neat little feature that prevents the grenade from going off too close to you, inspired by the real life grenade arming distance safety feature. Lastly, I moved the weapon from the 7th weapon slot to the second row of the 5th slot, replacing the Grenade Launcher. That last feature comes down to a matter of preference, as I enjoy the Devastator far more than the Grenade Launcher, and that's how I had it set for SS3, so I'm used to it. If you want to change this yourself, feel free to open the Serious Sam 4 editor and open the "DevastatorWeapon.ep" file under "Content/SeriousSam4/Databases/Weapons" and change the setting called "Weapon slot" from 5.2 back to the original value of 7.1.
