Since the dawn of mankind fire has been seen as a terrifying force of nature. Armies sought to harness and weaponize fire with many forms but few were as feared as the portable flamethrower. History shows that these types of weapons were deployed as early as 672 AD by the Byzantine Empire in the form of hand-pumped siphons which spewed the infamously revered concoction, Greek Fire. After the fall of the Byzantines, flame-projecting weapons were a mostly dormant weapon until the beginning of the 20th century. By 1901 the idea of the flamethrower resurfaced in the mind of a German scientist named Richard Fiedler. By 1909 the German arsenal consisted of a new weapon. It was called the "Flammenwerfer" (Flamethrower). Unlike the Byzantines, this weapon was not a hand pump siphon. It could project a stream of burning oil by a means of pressurized nitrogen. The industrial age officially brought back an ancient battlefield terror. A few short months after the outbreak of the First World War in February 1915, French soldiers began reporting horrific tales of a devilish new weapon deployed by the Germans near Malancourt. At the end of July near Hooge in Belgium, the British would also experience first hand the hellish nightmare the Germans created. The world would soon know about the Germans new toy. Most of the world would simply know it by the term "Liquid Fire". Before wars end Germany alone would conduct some 650 flamethrower attacks during the war. One such engagement fielded over 250 apparatus'. France, Great Britain, Russia, Austria-Hungary, Italy, and even America would experiment with their own models of "Flammenwerfer". Countries like Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire were given flamethrowers by Germany, but in extremely small numbers and saw little if no use at all. All but America, Canada, and the Ottomans would deploy flame-projectors into combat, but Germany reigned king throughout the war. They put terror into the hearts and minds of hundreds of thousands with their "Liquid Fire".

This mod primarily adds WWI era flamethrowers to the game, so strap on your gear and inflict fear onto your enemies! This mod is a great addition for those looking to RP WWI with even more authentic weaponry.
