The American counterattack proves more intense than anticipated. TRIGLAV contacts Moscow to begin a lightning negotiation for a ceasefire, while he retreats to a more defensible line.

A ceasefire is agreed in two hours, a demarcation line is drawn where units stood at that time. Russian research teams report to TRIGLAV that the Pinocchio device, an elusive but highly valuable artifact may still be found behind NATO lines. They narrow the area down to a largely abandoned woodland, callsign ZONE PETROV.

With the whole invasion's main objective still threatened, TRIGLAV orders ZMEY to violate the demarcation line, enter ZONE PETROV and retrieve the device at all costs.
